My question is pretty much stated up there in the subject heading: is two pieces of T5 still viable for raiding? Our guild finally decided to come out of retirement and start raiding again, and with the patch raiding is a bit on the easy side (ZA = LOL)
Anyways, now that we've all but cleared T5 content, I was wondering if tweaking my fire gear/spec (11/50/0) to an Arcane spec is worth the hassle. Does Arcane Blast spam level off with a fire rotation? Or with the new talents is fire the way to go?
Also, if Arcane is still viable, what sort of build are we looking at? I assume the standard 40/0/21 isn't going to fly anymore.

arcane blast spam will run you out of mana faster than you can say "innervate".
They increased the mana cost of the spell through the debuff to 200% each debuff so it quickly becomes a bad spell to cast multiple times in a row.
That being said, a lot of people have gone to arcane to get arcane barrage (51pt) so they do AB -> Abar -> AB -> Abar, and use MisBar (missile barrage) on procs.

So I guess 2 pieces of T5 isn't really necessary for that Arcane Barrage build? At any rate, I think I'm going to try Arcane one I get my second piece -- I could use a change o' flavors.

Just rember, it's no longer 20% it's 5% with an additiona 5% mana tax with the arcane set bonus. I was 40/0/21 pre patch. I'm now fire. I use to hate fire, but i'm loving it now. I use:

You will notice that I didn't put any points into burning soul. Threat hasn't been an issue. I also only put 1 point into improved scorch because the other mage in our guild is taking care of scorch and we both thave the imp scorch glpyh. He takes cared of scorch, i keep living bomb up. Hot Streak is FREAKING AWSOME. It procs a lot and living bomb crits count towards 1 of the 2 crits you need for it to proc. We are flying through BT now. We will be attempting Mother, Council and Illidan tonight. Unfortunately, we still have issues with Archie. /sgh

I am a 61/0/0 Arcane spec mage and I am loving it, I kill things much faster. Arcane Barrage is an instant cast fireball on a 6 sec recast timer. Arcane missles are fun and when they crit and they do crit often it is fun to watch the damage. PoM and Arcane power are now on 2 min CD's so you get to use them much more often. Arcane Blast is a good spell to use in a rotation only 2-3 times. I sometimes will POM Arcane Blast, cast it 1-2 times,
