The epic ground mount is now available on the trainer at level 61, requiring 150 riding skill, and the non-epic mount learned.

Think this goes live? Same for pallies. Leaves me feeling a little meh.

Here's the rest of the changes (soul link buffed!):

The epic ground mount is now available on the trainer at level 61, requiring 150 riding skill, and the non-epic mount learned.

Demonic Sacrifice: The buffs from this ability will now be retained properly when logging out or zoning.

Demonic Empowerment: This talent no longer gives excessive threat to the Warlock’s Voidwalker.

Destructive Reach: Now properly reduces threat on Chaos Bolt and Shadowflame.

Drain Soul: Rank 6 now properly deals additional damage ot targets below 25% health.

Haunt: The cooldown has been changed to 8 sec, and refreshing the Haunt will trigger the heal from the existing Haunt. This ability will no longer heal for incorrect amounts or fail to heal when the Huaunt damage was the killing blow.

Inferno: The Infernal is now useable indoors and the tooltip has been updated.

Master Demonologist (Felhunter) will now also reduce damage taken by Holy.

Ritual of Doom: Now works correctly even when the Warlock already has a pet (dismissed the existing pet.)

Shadowflame: Damaged increased approx. 75%. Coefficients unchanged.

Shadow Embrace: Now works on ranks 1-4 and stacks properly with multiple applications.

Soul Link (Demonology): Increased from 15% to 20%.

I don't like this. I wanted to be able to go through the epic events to get my mount. That was part of the fun of getting it. Are you still able to do it that way? Or is it a complete waste of time now?

im both happy and disapointed at the same time, most disapointed....

happyside: all get the horse, blabla (hm, is it really a good thing?)

downside: going trough the questchain is fun, and was an important ritual for me as an lock, an adventure to the dark side to meet a powerful beast to tame. and riding around on it after all those hours, smiling to every mob in outland....
also the respect it gives you, people know you have done somethig to get it (hard for some, easy for others, but still...)

now its just another mount you buy, saaaad story for me:(:(

To blizzard: dont nerf everything in this game please, epic mounts should be given after you have done something that takes skill (soloing a boss etc), not by learning it like all other mounts or spells

I think blizzard has forgotten there is more to life than lvl 70 soon to be 80. i have never had a maxed character even back in the days of lvl 60. its funny i talk to people in my guild who have lvl 70's and have never even heard of Molten Core. They also don't know a thing about some of the abilities and things that have been done in this game. This is just another step towards that. I have a lock in my guild who is trying to do the quest for his mount as we speak. The problem, not the gold to buy the items since you my lvl 20-30 alts have 500-1000 gold a piece. its the fact he can't get a group to go to the instances he needs to do. He asked some of the high lvl players to help him and they don't even know where he is talking about. So what does this have to do with the EPIC mount. well its not epic anymore cause now you can fly and get epic fliers. so why should blizzard care about what goes on pre 70. I just want there to be things to do and experiance to have. experiance used to be something in this game besides what you needed to grind out another lvl.

so with that rant done all i have to say is that blizzard. please don't do this to this mount and please include things for people below the lvl cap. i personally enjoy the journy to the end. and want things to do on the way there.

Reasoning why the dreadsteed is there in the first place: warlock spells (including demon spells) were overall WAY higher than those of all other classes, sans paladins. Now that warlocks have had a HUGE chunk of spells removed from having to be bought (demon spells), there is no real justification for the actual different mount.

HOWEVER, to completely take out the quest would be retarded. Still, I think what is going on here is the many, many complaints about no one running Scholo/Strat/Dire Maul (to account for both paladins and warlocks) - which is truth. But the quest is just way too fun, and it gives you a good sense of accomplishment, imo.

What I want to know is this. I spent over 400G buying all the items to finish this quest chain and right now I am on the final quest to get to the West Wing of Dire Maul to do it. I will be really pissed off if I spent all this money just to have to spend it all over again to get the mount from a trainer, not to mention the time wasted doing the quests.

By the way, I am on the Ghostlands US server and would greatly appreciate if some of you could give me a hand to do this quest before this next patch goes live.

Calm down, folks. Nowhere does it say they're removing the quest-chain. As far as I can tell, they're just adding the epic mount as a trainable spell instead of forcing you to run the quest.

I'm in the "happy, but sad" category. As a casual, guild-less player, the thought of trying to PUG the two instance quest branches makes me break out in hives. Also, with WotLK arriving in three weeks (yay!), I'd be surprised if people ever run Strat/DM again.

Now, I did the mount quest on my Alliance warlock, and it was an absolute blast! Now, I had a good guild with that character. I'm now leveling a Horde warlock and I don't have a guild yet. I'm glad I'll be able to get my flaming-horse-of-doom without having to go through all the rigmarole.

So... change is neither good or bad, just a change.

People will still likely run Scholo and DM with Wrath because of the new achievement system - and Scholo probably quite often because one of the achievements is to get exalted with Argent Dawn. And at any rate, it is quite possible people may be soloing those instances at 80, and many people already do at 70.

Honestly I don't think it's a big deal making the dreadsteed trainable. Yes, by training you miss out on the cool quest line, but you also get to skip the annoyance of having to run dead instances.

I don't really care too much that new locks will be able to train it. I had a good time running the quest chain and honestly I thought the final fight of it was a blast. I think they should have an achievement or something for completing the quest chain or at least give people something worth while for running it instead of just removing it.

Feats of strength for the pally/warlock mounts and druid epic flight form quest completion. /nod.

/facepalm

Wish I had seen this earlier. I just finished the Scholo part last night and was going to do the DM part after servers started back up today. I bought all the gear and now if I hadn't spent all the gold buying the quest items, I'd be able to just go buy this dang mount. Guess I best just go lfg for DM and finish it.

I do think that it would be cool if Blizz had put a little thought into it and made the graphic slightly different, showing the locks that actually "earned" their mount as opposed to those that just go buy it. Or... maybe make it so the quest Dreadsteed is now flyable at 70??? <wink, wink, nudge, nudge>

I'm in the same boat you are. But on the plus side, my lock is also semi-retired. It still pisses me off though. It better be just an option to buy the mount from a trainer, because I don't want all the money I spent on the items to be a waste. Especially since my lock is poor right now and I'd have to do some serious farming to come up with the almost 500g it costs to get the 150 lvl mount training.

I think they should at least replace it with a title.

They could at least have made the ones from the quest a different color (maybe blue flames), to give people who made the effort something to show for it. I've not ridden my hard earned dreadsteed since any gold-buying johnny no-mates can get one (Got my troll rep up instead and got a raptor :) ).

I've spent around 500g on getting the various reagents needed to complete the quest. At least give me a freakin' discount.
