Alright. So i am usally Combat. Got over 310+ Hit.. with s2 swords.. But i changed to mutil and got the s2 mainhand dagger and 45 badge dagger. the 103 DPS one.. and i almost have 2k AP and like 250 hit with my new gear. i heard that u didnt need all like 300+ hit for mutil.. so im woundering what i can do to get betetr DPS.. And my cycle usally is HFB.. garrote then SnD then get 4 CB then even. then that refresges my SnD then i just get 4-5 CB then rupt then 4-5 CB again for even and keep HB up .. thats about it.. and just repeat that... ANy tips or anything i should change.. i still got alot of hit.. or to low hit.. idk.. any help would be nice. thanks.

AH! Wall of txt-spk crits for 100k. Next time it helps to construct full sentences and paragraphs if you're looking for answers daddio. Just sayin'.

Anyhoo... Hit Rating is not as vital for Mutilate builds as it is for combat as long as you are over the Specials and Poison hit caps (142 and 174 respectively, iirc). After hitting the poison hit cap the weights for stats change and Agi takes on a larger importance as it raises both AP and Crit which are vital for efficient use of Mutilate "cycles."

I put "cycles" in quotes because as of right now (until WotLK hits) we are stuck without one really. Think in terms of a list of priorities rather than a steady cycle. Without the Rupture glyph, we just won't really have any rotations that will almost always function. The list of priorities has been very well covered in other threads, just take a look. To summarize: Keep up SnD no matter what, HfB is almost just as important, and Envenom is more efficient than Eviscerate.

Let's see... other than that... Given two weapons of the same DPS, take the faster one. IP on the faster hand. Um, guess that's the nutshell.

Seriously though, this has been talked about often. Check out the threads here and if you really, really want to get good with the spec, hit EJ's epic thread.

Alright sorry for my "txt chat".

Ok. i did a spreedsheet. and it says i have 2.1k+ DPS.. but thats like 25 man.. with like.. alot of buffs.. but on a test dummy i only do about 1.3k-1.4, Thats only doing it for about a min.. no buffs just poisons.

And yeah i have 158 hit.. but i always have food.. but i can get the hit cap without food if needed with other gear.

And im woundering if it would be better if i put my other gear on witch is around 310 hit. and i can socket for agi.

I can answer any more questions if needed. My msn is xkiller009x@hotmail.com if u wana talk there.

Take off the buffs in the spreadsheet.

Spreadsheets will tell you your best rotation.

Rogue rotations are math, nothing more.

Hush you!!! Rotations are magic passed down from rogue to rogue in long-hallowed and mysterious ways!

Hit caps are not magical numbers to hover around in your character panel nor will hitting a specific stat number make you omfg-leet. They are useful tools for analysis, nothing more. Before you are poison Hit capped, gear with +Hit has more statistical weight than gear without for Mutilate builds. After passing that point Hit is still a great stat, it's just not weighed quite as much as before compared to Agi. This idea cannot be stressed enough as there are a bubillion players out there who just don't get this concept. Stats are all inter-related and have variable importance dependent on many factors. Each class has different mechanics and every single one has at least a metric ton of theorycrafters working out those inter-relations. The info is out there.

Also: the spreadsheets only show potential DPS with optimal rotations. Theo's right: Turn off the buffs in the sheet and you'll get more accurate info. It's a rare thing in my experience to hit exactly the same number any simulator or spreadsheet says, even fully buffed. Not to mention that Rogues are heavily buff dependent for their raid DPS. Solo you're looking at a much lower output which isn't really a big deal, you should be stunning mobs mostly anyway.

Um... ok... Simple version: 200 hit then stack agi.

Better version: You have the #$^#@ing speadsheet!

Alright.. 200 hit then agi gems.sounds easy, Yeah i know how to spreadsheet. Also I did the spreedsheet, And put all agi gems. and stlll got like 220 hit. But my DPS still is kinda the same. But my crit chance went up and my AP. Also WHen i try puting in my combat spec it says i do more DPS. I went too the buff page and changed all the effects to 0.

It's a gross over-simplification and meant to be a joke, not real advice. Seriously, work with the spreadsheet to figure out which pieces of gear with which enchants/gems you need. ;)
