Spending Arena Points, BoJs and Honor/TokensFollow

I have done a bit of research but can't find a clear or comprehensive answer, especially not with a druidic spin on it. I think I've got 'karma credit' in case this is a dumb question. : )

I know Blizz changed their minds and are no longer going to "wipe" arena points and honor with WLK, but will they be more useful after the xpack than they are today? I know WLK will feature a whole new badge system, and assume current badges will only be good for current level 70 stuff.

Simply put, should I buy stuff now or hoard my non-gold "currency" for later?

I'm sitting on 36 badges, 1400ish arena points, and 14,000 honor. I know it doesn't sound like much but for me PvP is a grind so I always want to get the best bang for my buck.

My current thinking is that I will:
1) Spend the arena points on S3 legs to replace my Heavy Clefty pants since armor got nerfed and def is not needed.
2) Spend the honor on Vindicator's boots for PvP since my choices today are PvE-centric Edgewalker or Natural Grace.
3) Spend the badges on...damn, can't make up my mind. Already have Idol of Terror. And Gilded Thoriumweave so don't need Slikk's. Oh well, call it TBD. I think I heard that Band of Swift Paw and Cowl of Beastly Rage got nerfed. Maybe Bloodlust Broach?

If I remember they don't wipe Arena points at the end of the season.

You can spend or save the honor. It will suffer some inflation from 70 to 80 but if it will do you good in the mean time spend.

As for badges, I feel you, saving up to replace my Clefthoof chest with the I don't know which one yet. I think the Embrace of Everlasting Prowess is an upgrade so I will get that unless something else drops before then.

The Clefthoof set is now worthless. I had Sunrage Treads and Midnight Legguards to replace some of it but my DPS was hurting pre-patch.

They will be wiping Arena points, but you can keep your honor and tokens.

You may as well spend your badges too. They'll only be good for level 70 gear. I do remember reading something about badges becoming BoA (bind on account) at some point, which would allow you to send them to your other toons if the need gear for leveling to 80, but I haven't found anything definite on that. You're probably best off selling Nether Vortexes if you need the cash.

Arena points are definitely going to S3 pants, to replace my now weaksauce Heavy Clefty's for tanking.

Last night I bought Vindicator's boots which post-nerf give better tanking stats than the damn Boots of Natural Grace I spent like 1300 gold on a few months ago. I've also taken to using the guardian's belt instead of the Belt of Natural Power I bought. All in all, my tanking set is almost all PvP gear now...the stats are just so much better than the pieces I used to use for their exceptional armor and/or def rating.

As for badges, I'm gonna save 60 and buy the Ring of Stalwart Protector, as since the patch all the leather gear is totally craptastic. I don't get why they nerfed the armor of the PvE gear but not the PvP gear, instead of just reducing the percentage boost that bear form gives ALL our armor.

Yeah, overall I'm pretty pissed as well about the gear changes that came with 3.0 for druids. I started Kara as Feral, but switched to Resto and have pretty much just been collecting that gear. My tanking set used to be good enough to MT the first half of Kara, but with the gear nerfs I doubt I could even tank a heroic at this point. I'm pissed that they didn't reitemize the Heavy Clefthoof set aside from severely slashing its armor value. It's useless at this point.

I'm pretty sure the reason that they didn't change the PvP gear is because they couldn't change our armor values without changing everyone else's, which would really unbalance things. Right now the best tanking gear is easily the PvP stuff. There are some pretty decent badge pieces available for your kitty set, but beyond the ring and the cloak, there's nothing that you'd use for tanking over the comparable PvP piece.

I was actually planning on going feral to level, but now that my feral set is just crap, I'll probably use some badges to pick up some Balance pieces instead.

I think you may want to read up on some other threads about gear. Its my understand that though the armor values chagned, the gear is still good enough. Have you tried it or are you just assuming... I read this as you are just assuming you cannot do it.

Anyway to the OP - may as well spend it, if it will help you in your grind to 80.

Sucks they are wiping arena points, I just got into arena and suck pretty abd, but it has the potential to get a decent piece of gear... even for sucking.

I haven't tried tanking yet, but I have read other threads on gear. Pretty much everyone is in agreement that the Heavy Clefthoof set is just trash now, and I have nothing to replace those. My tanking gear is overall pretty bad. I had most of the high armor quest rewards from the level 70 group quests, and that was good enough at the time. But now that the armor value has been significantly nerfed on all of those pieces as well as the change to armor contribution in Bear form, I don't think I'll be around the same AV as my warrior. I may give it a shot at some point, but I'm not very optimistic.

I agree that the reduced armor numbers are offset in large part by new talents and other factors. What's messed up in my book is that they slashed the armor values of all the PvE-focused craftables and drops and badge rewards that people spent valuable time on (grinding instances or farming), while leaving the PvP gear intact, thus making the already viable PvP gear leapfrog WAY past tons of previously solid gear. My only painpoint there is the 2500g I spent a couple months ago on Boots of Natural Grace and Belt of Natural Power, because they were "best in the game" but accessible to non-raiding-lil-ol-me. I'd be livid if I'd stocked up on pieces like Band of the Swift paw and the other badge leathers that are now pretty craptastic relative to more easily-obtained PvPurples.

IMHO the armor reduction should have been handled in a more across-the-board way that didn't further reward the "PvP for purposes of PvE" playstyle that I and others take advantage of while punishing those PvE-focused players that built their PvE sets through...shocking...PvE.

I thought the same at first, but frankly, I have been tanking in BT & Hyjal in my kitty gear now half the time and it hasn't been to much of a problem other than my stamina. The Armor & dodge on all my badge gear (I had bought ALL the badge tanking gear) is easily enough for me to tank anything in the game at the moment it seems, so the nerfs don't bother me at all.
