So my lock is freshly dinging 70 and with the new changes from school specific dmg to spellpower, I was curious what you all thought is the better path to go.

I know some people will say, "Dude, the x-pac is in 3 weeks.. Why waste the mats for something you will replace with greens?"

Well the easy answer is that I have a hunter in full T6 and a Pally in T5 and more than likely will be my 1st toons to 80. I would like to have some decent gear on the lock for when I decide to take a break from the afore mentioned toons and just want to grind out a lvl of rested or such. Plus thats still 3 weeks to go run her through Kara and heroics and such.. (I am so going to miss Kara... I have cleared every raid save Sunwell and Kara is still my favorite)

I am also just interested in what you all think of the new changes.. And their implications on the gearing of the Warlock class.. Also with the new changes, what gear formerly known as "healing Gear" would you like to have had back in the day?

Well as far as the healing gear is concerned, the +healing on most of them actually got nerfed so what happened to it was the amount of +Spelldmg is what became +spellpower.

Depending on what spen youre planning on going, I'd have to say spellfire set is the way to go. Most lock seem to be rolling a 56/0/5 spec, I personally and gonna have to do a 51/0/10 which is better for raids/5-mans, and heavy affliction spec has thus far been the best spec to go. You dont lose much SP form the change and you gain crit for haunt and shadowbolt.
Plus the setbonuses are not too shabby on the spellfire set, and, you can always get a few pieces of the frozen shadow weave ^^

My guild will be farming Karazhan even at 80, As long as there is a use for the Badges. If Not, Karazhan will be an amazing source of EXP and Gear for the 70-80 trek.

But yeah, Go run Magister's Terrace and Heroic Magister's, the shoulder's/robe in there are better then FSW, the gloves are better then spellfire. and Belt of Blasting is just too easy to craft to pass up on.

The badges are useless at 80 and from what I hear the exp in Kara is in the pits. The gear is decent, but I wouldn't get too excited.

To answer the OP, I like Spellfire set bonus better, but I haven't really compared the actual stats.

Re: The xp thing. I ran Onyxia on my priest today at level 67, and rested/group bonuses gave me a grand total of 18k xp or so just for Onyxia alone. Granted, 3 people made it a 20minute kill, but still.

As for which set is better, the FSW set will definitely be better for an affliction lock, the Spellfire set for Destruction, and I would probably lean toward Spellfire for Demo as well.
