Over the past few days I've several posters seemingly state that the reduction
of AC for these pieces is such that they are no longer viable for tanking. Is

Yes, the extra armor is gone. Also, the defense rating is a waste if you pick up 3/3 Survival of the Fittest. I haven't really looked for replacement gear for fresh 70 bears, my only suggestion would be to stack Stam and Agi.
