It mostly depends on how y like to play m8/What gear you have already.
I got prot gear and like the solo/protection style. I dont think is faster or slower than the other specs.
For instance : A quest tells you to kill 10 mobs.
Arms/furry : You ll probably choose to kill 1 by 1 the mobs very fast and after 2-3 kills you ll need to heal a bit.
Protection: A wise choise is to pick a fight with at least 4 of them :)) and when they drop dead the other 4 and then 2 with no heals. I do that with almost all daily quests in the island-especially those on the 3 ships: The other players get so ungry at me taking all mobs at same time(GRRR.. LET ME HAVE ONE!!!)well thats the main diference between tanking and dps warr
I bet the time to level to 80 with both practices is (hm?) the same.
I'm going to actually say I disagree to some extent.
Specifically as arms ..... I did the entire Arm the Wards and redploying of arcane robot thing quests in one and a half pulls (the second pull was only 3 mobs). I ran around an threw knives at 5 protectors, while I did this I agrod about 6 or so wretched dudes ... that's 11 mobs ( i was def stance with a shield and shield wall up, otherwise I might have been hurt). Once they were all on me, I popped sweeping strikes and bladestorm .... man oh man ... I"ve not seen that many big numbers pop all at the same time ... ever.
I had a sudden death execute available with a full rage bar after 6 seconds, which was enough (hehe) to finish off the last mob. 4500 dps .... 11 mobs, 3 mana remnants, 5 protectors. One more pull of 3 mobs got the last drop, and I was done. Definitely not a 1v1 fight, and that was 53/8/0 arms. Ok, I did need to eat after that (Actually I almost died, was very close), but the job was done.
As TG fury the night before, I noted quite clearly that I did all 10 of the dailies on the isle with zero downtime .. that's right .. .NO eating or bandaging. The effect of the bloodthirst heal (small, but pretty much all I needed), together with dropping mobs so Quickly (most of the time before the 3 second intercept stun wears off) meant that it felt like a very effective method to level. As for my gear, I'm in crafted, quested and PvP gear, with Despair as my off hand (my one and only Kara drop)
I will be giving prot a go from a levelling perspective, but from what I've read, and what I see of the talents, I believe it will be just as viable.

Best guess is :Pick the one(spec) that you will probably stick for a looong time
There I agree 100% ... they're all perfectly viable, it actually makes no difference now.
