BM Is now the PWN-all specFollow

#1 Oct 16 2008 at 8:01 AM Rating: Default
Omg, for the last couple days i've been reading these forums and watching people question, ask, cry, whine, predict about the hunter specs anywhere from "What should I do with my talent points?" to "Have you tried (insert spec/pet here)"

I've been unable to log in but now i can. I stand here today to say BM is the way to go. I have stuff to prove it. (Most of this is based on core hound and chimera)

PVE:
When doing solo'ing a poor first attempt spec hunter can easily get any pet to 8k hp. And will most likely be able to get a tenacity pet to 8k~10k'ish really easily. Also exotic pets are amazing. (My character is dietoliveko on Shu'halo if you want to check me out.)

My DPS with my bow is about 269 ish (valonos longbow). Not using skills, but on critical hit buffs and rapid my core hound's DPS sky rockets to 400 per second!?! (398.68) With a little bit of respec'ing and buff that number can go way higher, no to mention adding in lava breath and bite. He shreds through enemies.
My chimera has all the abilities to make him incredibly auseful and fun. Roar of recovery is so helpful especial when he uses it automatically. Carrion feeder saves alot of money.

PVP:
Every is QQ'ing about ret pallies, however with longetivity and either a core hound or chimera ret pallies can't touch a hunter, litterally. I only have 1 point in longivity (however u spell it) And i've beaten every ret pally for the last couple days with ease. The chimera's frost breath thing makes it incredibly hard for them to charge u plus with BW and intimidation they can't do much to get close. Core hounds though save lives. With core hound ret pallies' and healers in general die the heals never come in time. Check my stats. This morning i was #1 in kills and damage in all 3 BGs i did switching between my core hound and chimera.

Finally in general:
Those 4 talents points make the pet tree completly worth it. They are the difference between ur pet being pet or another player helping u out.

Every1 remembers the felguard right? I remember the days when the felguard would rape me. Lvl 70 Core hound vs. Lvl 70 Felguard (better geared warlock). Corehound was whipping it with 6.3k hp / 8k hp to the fel guards 1.6k hp / 7k or 9k hp i had to pull of my core hound before he destroyed the thing.

MM and SV are no longer as beneficial as BM, then with ferocious inspiration it's kinda the mini HP or true shot aura.

I guess what i'm trying to say is
BM hunter > Ret pally
BM Hunter > MM and SV
BM Hunter > any warlock spec.
BM Hunter = druid

Exotic pets sooooooooooo worth it

Not really.

The exotic pets themselvs may look really cool, and if you are having a blast witht them, then keep em! However They are not the top dogs in raids.... yet. not sure how T-Rex will perform at level 70.

What does seem useful are the 4 extra pet points. However even those are not enough to justify i would spec into it. The current spec i am using is the best spec i have seen yet for my gear level. That is what i really like about this latest patch. Hunters have to think and react and be creative to find what works best for them.

Here is my armory, spec is in there. I was able to hit over 1900 dps for the raid in BT. I was above 2700 in every boss fight. I would not have been anywhere close to that with 51 points in BM to get the exotic pet. Once i get some levels, then hell yes i will be speccing it, But for now. I do not see it being worth my talent points.

BM has been the spec of choice for raiding for quite a while anyway.

The real benefit of the Beast Mastery talent is the extra pet training points. Exotic pets are kind of cool, but the novelty will wear off.

I do think that the new talents breath some new life into MM for raiding. I can see having a MM hunter in the raid as practically a must. True Shot Aura buffing the entire raid's attack power by 10% just seems too strong to pass up. There are some other talents in MM that should up their dps pretty well.

I was defending Halaa a few hours yesterday evening and was happily surprised to see I was owning all with full Beastmastery and a silithid. Netting the mages seems to irritate them immensely. ;)
Not that the Horde had an organized defense last night.

Through all of my duels as BM or SV vs a ret, I lost once. And this guy was 4/4 T6, 4/4 S4, with the sword from Kil'Jaeden. I was guaranteed to lose that one.

Hunters beat ret pallies..
