NEW PATCH! HOW ARE YOU ALL COPING?Follow

I'd say holy is a fair tank healing spec as well though. Two of the most improved heals in the holy tree are Flash and Greater Heal. And, well, no need to even finish this sentence.

Also, has anybody else noticed the amount of spells seemed to have gone up an incredible amount? Pre-patch, I used to heal like this:

-PoM on the tank
-(Cancel)cast Greater Heal on the tank (depending on whether I'm doing a 5-man or raid)
-Keep renew up on the tank
-Shield, Flash Heal, or Greater Heal a DPS that takes damage, depending on what I've got time for
-Occassional Holy Nova if the entire group was stuck at ~95% hp.

I realize my respec to holy might make a difference, but post-patch I heal like this

-PoM on the tank
-Cast Greater Heal once the tank gets <60% hp (or cancelcast in raids)
-Keep renew up on the tank
-Shield, Flash Heal or Greater Heal a DPS that takes damage
-Holy Nova whenever everybody's at 90% hp or when there's a lot of mobs around
-Upon a Surge of Light proc (which usually comes after a Holy Nova)... Wait 'till anybody loses 30% hp then throw an instant Flash Heal.
-Use Circle of Healing on the tank when the whole group is between 80% and 95% HP and I'm too far away from the group for Holy Nova (or Holy Nova isn't worthwhile)
-Use Guardian Spirit when anybody gets dangerously low and I can't afford to stop healing the tank. Or, just throw it on a low HP DPS and furthermore ignore him.
-And use Desperate Prayer when I get <50% hp and can't afford to heal myself

And heck! I haven't even mentioned Lightwell yet, and aside from the free cast aspect, I barely use Holy Concentration since it procs after a crit; which is generally when I least need two quick heals. Thanks to all the procs, free heals, and sheer amount of healing abilities I've got, I'm actually having trouble finding a use for Guardian Spirit, Circle of Healing and Lightwell. I generally drop Lightwell on bosses, but I barely need it. Guardian Spirit is loads of fun for PvP, but I rarely need it in PvE. Circle of Healing is a very nice spell, but also one I rarely use.

I'm going to keep Holy Concentration just because I figure I'd really need the mana in a real raid (I had to give up Meditation to grab Guardian Spirit), but I'm actually getting ideas that involve dropping it.

Hard to say how PVE healing with a priest is right now. It's just so bloody easy compared to what it was.

PVP is a different kettle of fish. The insane amount of DPS floating around the battlefield rattled me at first--I used to be a 2-minute kill, and now I'm a 30-second kill. On the other hand, most other characters are 10-second kills.

I had to adjust. I can't rely on PoM and Renew while running a mana race anymore; burst healing is key. Luckily, Priests have terrific burst healing. I throw up a fully talented Shield, then Greater Heal or Binding Heal at a 30% haste rate thanks to Borrowed Time. Pain Suppression keeps whoever's getting focused from going down instantly, and Desperate Prayer gives me a little extra lease on life.

Furthermore, Dispel and the new Dispel Glyph work wonders. Ret Pallies and Moonkin aren't nearly as fearsome when you're clearing their buffs and your debuffs, especially when clearing your debuffs heals you.

Still, PVP healing has become much more of a challenge now. I like it, it's a change of pace.

Not a big issue, but I've never seen a group PVE moment yet where I'd use Desperate Prayer instead of Binding Heal.

Well, yes, but Desperate Prayer costs no mana and tbh I haven't really had a situation where both the tank and I needed heals =/

As for PvP... Not sure. I'm sure the new holy would've been more than viable when applied to how it was pre-patch. At the moment holy seems to blow, no matter how much instant spells you use. It's just Divine Guardian that seems to work really well. I've had one situation with 3 people DPS'ing me... I popped Divine Guardian, renew and shield and got off a Flash Heal. Then I got stunned and watched my HP get knocked down from 9K to 1K. Then Divine Guardian's heal popped at the same time as a (+800) renew tick and I got right back to 8K.

Nothing weighs up against the tremendous rate with which people now deal damage though. On my rogue, I outdamage a healadin's Flash of Light and kill the target before Holy Light has a chance to hit if I attack from stealth. Even a blind followed by a trinket usually grants me enough time to finish off my target. Unless he's mail or plate... Then I also need to throw a kick on the healer.

It does now. Less than Binding Heal, but I'm a big fan of BH as well; if I take damage I can usually find someone in the raid or party who could use a topping off. Desperate Prayer is an instant cast though, and you can never underestimate the goodness of panic buttons. :)

Alright I give up!

I just *like* using it because if I replaced it with BH I'd have yet another heal sitting around doing nothing! =P

I hear ya. Thank goodness I don't use the letter z for much else, because that's my CoH key and it's taking a beating.

Well at first I hated it. Cause you know..change is something no self respecting human wants. am i right??

but then after a few respects I'm getting into the new groove. I absolutely love that Holy fire is only a 1.5 second cast now. Got my mana regen problem resolved so went out and did ZA last night. Holy crap, was that fun. We one shot all the bosses except one. Even though it was post nerf attempts, it was good for us(my guild) as most of us had never been in there before. COH FTW.....

Not really, sounds like something you pulled up rather quickly. Just think about it.
