Drastic changes in my healing and damage gear.... WTF?!Follow

#1 Oct 14 2008 at 7:35 PM Rating: Sub-Default
I just logged in to find in my healing gear i went from having 1950 +healing pre-patch to around 925 after patch.... and in my damage gear i had 1100, and that only dropped to 1005... so i did a test before talents, and noticed yes my heals do heal more in my damage gear than in my healing gear (which would be obvious)...

question is, so even when i spec healing.... i should still use my full damage gear to heal?... all the time spent to get those drops, now means f***ing nothing? i really hope this isn't the case but for now it seems like it. So f*** trying to get healing gear anymore, that no longer exists? i hope im getting this ******** wrong.......

also, doesnt this now ***** over the damage classes (lock/mage) since now healers will now be rolling on what used to be... gear made specifically for their class. (aka DAMAGE) sure if i was a lock/mage i wouldnt care about this new spell power deal but..... the fact my full healing set lost almost 1k+ healing, and that gear is now obsolete and was pointless to even get?.... months wasted...

lookin at the enchants also.... i might as well of gotten the +spell power enchants since they give more +healing/damage than the healing ones did.... (not on all pieces but some, weapon went from +81 healing to +43 spell damage.. a whole 3 more than the +40 pre-patch)

anyway.... i hope im wrong or something... just hate to have all that damn time wasted getting gear.... about 250 badges WASTED on healing items.... rediculous

Check the other stats. Spirit, Int and MP5 and see how they have changed. And it's not really news anyway, they've warned about Healing and Spellpower turning into one single stat anyway.

Dude, I don't know if you've noticed, but they're releasing an expansion in, like, a month and with it another 10 levels. You think your gear will be worth anything at level 80?

I think the problem I have with this change now from the healing to spell fire thing is how to spec to be an effective healer on raids now? I too before the reset had over 1800 bonus healing(buffed and all that) and now I have 850! The dmg done by spells is alright my concern is for those of us holy priests that had very high bonus healing and so on and all this gear, how effective are we going to be at healing?

Read the patch notes before you have a kibbie, peeps! Your healing is the same. This change is nominal only. It's like converting miles to kilometers. The number looks different, but the distance is the same. Your heals will hit for the same numbers as before.

You're an idiot. Read the patch notes and follow along with what's actually going on.

They replaced +healing to be a generic +spell power. What does this mean? It means less wasted drops. You know that caster dps gear that got disenchanted? Wouldn't it have been nice if the healer could use it for healing? Well now they can. And you know that piece of healing gear that got disenchanted in that other instance? If only the mage could have used it for damage. Well now they can.

Yes it means healers will roll against dps for gear. While it seems like more competition it's actually less.

Let's say you have 10 pieces of possible gear in an instance;

2 tank
3 melee
2 healer
3 caster dps

That means as a healer you have a 2 out of 10 chance of getting a drop, or 20%. Now with the new change that means you'll have a 5 out of 10 or a 50% chance to get a drop. Before it was always a 20% chance with or without competition between group players. Now it's a 50% with or without competition. So before the change you'd run an instance and it'd drop a caster piece. The mage gets it. You run it a second time and the same piece drops. DE. After the change the mage would get it the first time and you'd get it the second time. And so on.

Your heals do not change!!!!!

The only thing that changed is the mathematics behind it. You get more healing per spell power now. If you kept the same bonus healing then your heals would increase dramatically.

Let me repeat this; YOUR HEALS HEAL FOR THE SAME AMOUNT AS BEFORE!!!!!!

This was the reason I didn't bother getting an +heal gear over the last couple of months :P
My + spell damage is around 1200 (almost as much as my +heal) so I get a huge burst in +heal now even if my efficiency is going to suck :P
