Hey guys,

Ive been meaning to ask this for a while, and since today the patch comes out, and I know the guild will be raiding tonight I should ask this now.
What is going to be the DEF cap for warriors? (@70)

I heard they took away all crushing blows? I dont really keep up with whats going on, I try to and hope to read about it on the forums.
But I havent really read too much on it.

I read the mobs need to be 4 lvl's above you to crush now?

I guess I dont understand, I assumed all "skulled" mobs were 3 lvls above you at the time... Should I treat them as 4 lvls above me now?

or will the boss's in lets say ZA now show lvl 73 instead of a skull?

One of my buddies told me he tanked a Kara in 420D.

I will be tanking BT tonight, and I just want to make sure I dont end up dying due to stupidity on my part lol..

Thanks guys!

Only mobs +4 your level will crush, which means that bosses no longer Crush.

The Defense cap hasn't changed. The major change is that Anticipation no longer grants DEF, but you still want to DEF-cap. You can, of course, survive being crit if it comes down to it a decent amount of the time... but why bother? If nothing else, DEF is our best overall Avoidance/Mit stat both before and after the DEF crit-cap now since the Shield Block Rating actually means something.

lol! Thanks for the quick reply.

Looks like I might have to ware some funky tanking gear to keep my 490.. well not so much funky, but it will be more of my avoidance set then my High Threat set.

I am super excited today!

This is my current build im thinking of rolling.

http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?warrior=050000000000000000000000000000053351225001012521330111321300000000000000000000000000

I was thinking of putting all 3 points in the critical block.

But I thought 2 pts in improved revenge would be better since you will always have the 20% more dmg from revenge rather then the on CHANCE extra dmg on the critical block one.

I will prolly end up being wrong on that, but hell who knows!

critical block adds % crit to SS's. Worth taking.

::EDIT::

So... you don't like crit for tanking in that build? No 5/5 cruelty...

I absolutely love this build... 5/5/51

I think 3/3 AttT and 2/5 Cruelty is better than 5/5 Cruelty. You're looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 AP. That's better than 3% to crit IMO. I also don't think that you need to max out Shield Spec and Anticipation. You're already going to be sitting at significantly higher avoidance (probably around 5% more) than you were before the patch. I think you can spend those points better elsewhere. This is probably what I'll be going with.

you definately want shield spec for the rage generation. i'm blocking a hell of a lot especially when shield block ability is up, so its worth it. plus it adds a LOT to your surviavbility now.

Why did you not take Vigilance?

Just to let you know, I'm not knocking your build, I just seems like a great ability on paper. Is it buggy?

I don't like Vigilance for a couple of reasons.

It seems like a mostly threat based talent, and I'll take if for raiding and heroics. But I don't see it useful for anything other than raids or heroics. Star DPS or not, I have absolutely 0 problems with holding threat as prot, 3.0.2. I will take it come lvl 80 though.

I decided to spec prot after hearing that it got buffed a bit, and I can honestly say, I don't think I've ever had so much rage.

Was soloing the 71 elite trees in skettis, constantly using attacks, and only time I ever went out of rage was right at the start when I Demo shout > Comm shout > Thunder clap.

Using charge in any stance and during combat helped me solo some of Ramps (finished some fights with less than 30% health missing).

I am also using Glyph of revenge and Glyph of heroic strike (My revenge ability lets me cast 1 heroic strike for free for 10 seconds, and when heroic strike crits, I gain 10 rage)

I may respec to try out arms and fury, but I am seriously loving me some Prot right now.
