I'm a soloist mostly, don't do many instances etc. and a lot of the stuff I've learned about this game comes from yall or personal experience. My guildies help me a bit, but with this (PvP) never comes up very often. Im at 65 and I see a few ppl at my level with some PvP gear. I dont have any friends irl that play WoW so that limits me in some of the PvP aspect. (my personal feeling I'm not sure).

Are BG's possible without having a premade? And what are some other options to get some honor points that I would be useful in w/out bring other ppl down?

If you could maybe put up a link to a site that would help a noobish 65 hunter I would very much appriciate it.

Thanks

there's level 60 and 70 pvp gear. level 60 would be a waste as you're half way to 70. The level 70 pvp gear will almost be a waste too as WotLK will be released in a month.

BG's are very possible without premades. BG's are the only way to get pvp gear solo.

Ok Throttler, one more (hopefully) retarded question.

How? Do I just go to the BG and enter and I should be OK?

Please forgive my stupid questions.

You just og to the battlemaster and click que or w/e. I heard somewhere that honor is carrying over into the x-pack, so don't spend it on PvP gear just yet.

/sigh...I more question. Its like science on question answered brings up 10 more questions. Will I be in this BG with a group of others and have to wait like a round on Halo, or just transferd there with a bunch of npcs?

Also I will google BGs so I leave you all alone. Thank you very much for the quick and helpful replies.

You fight with and against real people (though in Alterac Valley there are NPCs as well.) You may have to wait a few minutes before a round starts, but you don't have to wait very long usually.

All you do is queue up for one of the battlegrounds and you'll be grouped up with the needed amount of other people.
Sadly, most of them are retarded.
The positive thing about that is that your inexperience wont show Smiley: wink

And I'll add a small explanation of the BG's here.
I know thatthat is what I found hardest about my first BG's.. no clue what the goal was.

Alterac Valley: 40 vs 40 kill the other side's boss.
Best you can do is follow the group and help kill the mini boss, capture towers and kill the big boss the first couple times until you understand it all.
Arathi Basin: 15 vs 15 capture and hold bases.
5 bases, your team gets points for holding them, first team to 2000 points wins.
Eye of the Storm: combination of capturing and holding bases and capturing the flag.
4 towers and 1 flag, bringing the flag to a tower held by your team gives points, holding towers give points.
Once again a race to 2000 points.
Warsong Gulch: 10 vs 10 capture the flag, first team to capture 3 flags wins.
You cant capture the flag when the other side has your flag.

You get rewarded honour points for killing members of the other team and the whole team gets bonus honour for things like getting a certain amount of points, capturing a flag, destroying a tower etc.
You also get 1 or 3 marks from that specific battleground. (1 for loss, 3 for win obviously)

And for when you're lvl 70 (or more likely 80)
Arena: 2v2, 3v3 or 5v5 deathmatch.
you enter with your own team (so it's not ally vs horde as in BG's) and fight for a rating.
winning adds to that rating, losing costs you rating.
the amount differs based on the difference in rating between the teams.
you gain arena points every week based on your rating.

Ok, first off, thank you for the replies. Second a question (-.- sorry). Should I go with a MM build similar to the arena build or will my cookie cutter BM build work in BGs. Seems that I would want the "burst" type dmg, but I love the BM spec, and have never used another so I'm nervous about it. Again thank you. Haven't gone over there yet as I'm trying to level my skinning after dropping Mining, but I'll probably get over there tonight.

I've liked my BM spec for BG. Beastial Wrath/Beast Within is great to protect against those classes who like to use fear. I've mostly used the cookie cutter BM/MM build while in BG, but have had some luck putting a few points in survival under hawk eye. For some reason the extra 6 yards helps more than i thought it would. Lotsa people seem to have a bit more tunnel vision in many BGs, and don't seem no notice as fast if your at a greater distance, but your DPS will hurt w/o mortal shots. Another plus to BM is the pet is stronger, and many people simply ignore the pet... kinda nice to have a stronger pet working for you when you are dancing around trying to avoid a melee class.

Specs for BGs don't matter whatsoever, just use what you prefer. For arena though, go for one of the two MM builds (Deterrence or Bestial Swiftness are your only two "options"). If you want to run as burst 2s, such as BM Hunter+Sl/SL Lock, which I have gotten up to 1850 with, run as a standard PvE BM build, but with endurance training instead of Imp Hawk.

This (45/16/0) build will be close to the best you can get for PvP until you get enough gear and skill to survive more than 18 seconds against pretty much anyone.

After that I'd probably go 0/51/10 to give you more pvp options.

(yes, those are 3.0 builds. you probably wont reach lvl 70 before that patch hits anyway so this'll help more.)

Alright so I did some BGs this weekend and had a blast. AB was my favorite AV was a *****, could see anything with what seemed like hundreds of ppl around. I can (probably wont until a little later) go to the champions hall to spend my Honor points and get the gear correct? Don't have a whole bunch yet, about 2000 but I'd like to go see what I can get. Also, Idk if it was just my server or the times I played but I couldn't even get into EotS. seemed like no one was doing it, but AB and WG were every min or so it seemed. Is that normal?

AV is my favorite BG. Hunters rock on both offense and defense. It does require understanding all of the various 'tactics' so you can adjust yours to suit your teams efforts. If you have the time to play BG's learning AV is a good use of it.

AB & WSG are much 'easier' to get and work with. The strategies are simpler and they can be just as fun if you get on good teams. I've never done EotS, it's something I've never felt I had to do.

Good luck and have fun!

the only reason I wanna do EotS is for that guy with the quest who want the marks. Not a big deal but wanna finish the quest.

EotS is my personal favorite BG. EotS is a lot like AB, in that you need to take and hold resources/towers. EotS adds a flag, making it a bit like WSG, but with a huge difference. Ignore the flag! You win by taking and holding 3+ of the 4 towers, and after taking and holding 3+ of the 4 towers you can speed your victory with flag captures if you can afford to do so without losing a tower.

If you're at 2/2 towers some people with yell about how flag caps will help you win. They are wrong. Taking a 3rd tower will not just help you win, it'll cement the win.

After you've accumulated a few thousand Honor and 20+ marks from each BG, this link will show you the vendors in the Hall of Legends. Click them and you'll see what's for sale.
