three points in living spirit into Natural Perfection or Natural Shapeshifter
This is correct. I failed to plan my build according to the gear you would have. While the living spirit may help to get back
some of the spirit lost on PvP gear, the points are better spent elsewhere.
As far as which talent to spend the 3 points on, more knowledge of your gear is needed, particularly the resilience. As you may know, there is a maximum of 25% damage reduction from crits. Every point of resilience is equal to .05% crit damage reduction. Therefore, ever 100 resil is 5%, and at 500 resilience you would be capped. One of the main benefits of the Natural Perfection talent is that when you get hit, there is a chance to get a buff that decreases all damage. If, however, you are at the cap of 25% already, the buff would have
no additional effect. The spell crit gained is still active, but that alone does not merit spending the points in Natural Perfection over Natural Shapeshifter.
The problem gets more complicated when you consider different levels of resilience. For example, if you are at 400 resil should you still get the talent? The talent is a 3-pointer with different levels of damage reduction based on the number of talent points spent:
1 point - 2% damage reduction
2 points- 3% damage reduction
3 points- 4% damage reduction
So, by doing some simple math, we can conclude that:
<440 - 3 points should be spent
440-460 - 2 points should be spent
460-500 - 1 point should be spent
>500 - 0 points should be spent
As you can see, this only applies once you get fairly high resilience. This model also assumes that:
a)You want to achieve maximum damage reduction
b)The crit portion of the buff is of negligible value
There are also other things to take into consideration here. While damage reduction is nice, other stats such as stamina and intellect should not be neglected. An extra percent of damage reduction may save your life on very rare occasion, but most likely not nearly as often as some extra mana would. Don't be so concerned with stacking resilience and damage reduction that you neglect your other stats. And don't forget that PvP druids shift a lot during fights(well, at least most of the good ones do). If you find yourself consuming large amounts of mana due to frequent shifting, then Natural Shapeshifter may end up being a better talent for you to take.
