Another unholy nerf incFollow

It's mainly a post discussing the status of blood and things that should be changed (many of which I agree with) but at the tail end of GC's last post she mentions the fact that they're going to further reduce unholy's dps. I think currently it's fairly equal with the other two specs, are they going to reduce it to below the other two because it has more aoe?

They're going to do it because Unholy is currently capable of solid PvP and PvE on the same spec. They really don't want this it seems, as I've mentioned over on the Shaman forums. My friend's DK on beta can happily raid Naxx and come top4 DPS, and he can then head into Wintergrasp and be a killing machine there too. Thus, they have to nerf Unholy PvE DPS to allow Blood to be the spec of choice there.

It sucks, but Blizz generally nerf the good thing rather than buff the bad thing.

eh it's possible, but I really think it's more the AoE thing. I remember a discussion that said if mages were able to do the exact same damage to a boss as a rogue, but the mage can AoE while the rogue can only do single-target, there's a problem. I don't remember however if that was the case a player made or the idea of a blue poster that said it though, my memory sucks.

A more likely thing if you really want to go down the PvP route is that most DK PvPers do end up being unholy, and it's quite possible that if basically all of them are unholy (for whatever reason) Blizzard might nerf the spec so some of them try PvPing as a different spec. Nerf unholy too much though and you'll just switch a lot of people to frost.

When you think about it, how damn hypocritic does this make Blizz?

"Sure, you won't be able to do PvP and PvE with one spec, but we'll give you dual-specs so you don't have to respec in between PvP and PvE".

^^^^ You've got a point but I think Blizz is doing it just so people will try out the different specs and play styles. If they wanted everyone to only spec Unholy then they wouldn't have even bothered trying to make/balance 2 other trees.

If you can PvE DPS and PvP with one spec and you've got dual-spec in the game, you'd be able to PvE DPS, PvE tank and PvP without respeccing. That ability is reserved for us Druids, thank you very much.

That's not what I mean. I'm referring to the fact that on one side Blizzard is saying "No, we absolutely do not want you fulfilling multiple roles with 1 spec" while on the other side they're saying "But we will make it easier for you two switch between 2 specs so you cán fullfill both roles".

If the end of the line idea is allowing us to fullfill 2 roles without respeccing, then why not just change the trees so that one tree could do PvP and PvE?

Death Knight is what I'm specifically thinking about here. Why not make the unholy PvE cookie cutter = unholy PvP cookie cutter? Dual specs allow the same except that they force you to use more than 1 spec. What if I lÃke that one spec?

I don't think I'm following you.

You mean they should remove the dual-spec system and allow Death Knights to do PvE and PvP DPS with an Unholy build? Or do you want them to keep the dual-spec system along with the current Unholy talent tree, thereby allowing Death Knights to cover PvE DPS, PvE tank and PvP without having to respec?

If so, what about all the other classes that can't do PvE and PvP with just one talent build?

As a Feral Druid, I've spent the last two years collecting salty tears from Warriors and Rogues who think it's unfair that I can pop out of "tank form" and into "DPS form" while always being in "PvP form." Trust me, you don't want that.

I'm not entirely sure what they should do. I'm just pointing out the way they're going about it is a tad ironic. They could make the change in every tree, right? I mean, if you ask me the game would be a lot more fun if any class could PvE and PvP as any spec and that the spec (which ironically enough stands for "specialization") simply altered your way of playing rather than your ability to do so.
