So I fail at soloing high level instances.Follow

Jandice Barov can go diaf. Just saying.

I didn't respec for my fail attempt at soloing Scholomance (I did get to Jandice's room, cleared all the trash, but only got her to 30% - stupid banishes). I was mostly grinding Argent Dawn rep (got to exalted, yay!) so I could get free Naxx attunement (server's last raid tonight, I'm trying to get in on it).

- Downed Rattlegore (far easier than the skellies in the room, oddly)
- Magic-"immune" mobs suck (though, they are vulnerable to holy damage)
- Jandice's banishes suck
- Jandice's adds suck

Also, I've disenchanted no less than 4 Dreadmist Belts in two days. And Baron needs to drop his mount already.

In any case, if any of you guys have solo'd Scholo or Strat, how? I'm a little irked that I couldn't manage the Jandice thing, but I'm assuming my strategy on it was just full of fail.

I solo strat often and it is hard work with a lock, the only 2 builds that work are a 41/20/0 like:

or a 0/40/21 like

As you are you are just far too squishy.

For the affliction build the points in Demo will increase your health, Imp HS and boost the amount drained so you will be able to stay alive while draining them.

The demo one involves nuking them down asap and you also get the benefits of the improved surviveability.

Use your blueberry to tank as the others get killed quickly.

Hope that helps.

amusingly a heavy fire spec destruction build + lots of haste works for both instances. granted 4/8 T6 helps a lot in this situation due to both the set bonuses. you can simply nuke through every boss. the 40/21/0 spec though is probably the best. drain tanking the mobs for rediculous amounts ftw, and void tanking if any boss ever simply hits to hard.
anyways, wait till next wednesday, with that content patch a full demo spec (literally 61 points in demo) with felguard tanking will beable to solo loads of things. first thing I'm doing is soloing onyxia like that :) lol

Yeah, I think an aff/demo would would have worked a lot better (especially with iHF and iVW), or possibly some sort of SL/SL build.

Scholo is a *ton* easier than Strat, by far. The Eyes of Naxxramas are brutal (even on my shaman) when they pull in extra stuff before I know they're there. I figured it would come down mostly to respeccing anyhow, just wanted to see how far I could get as my raid spec (which, with the exception of Jandice, seems to be a good way in, I just didn't have time to see how far I really could get).

As for speccing Demo, I'm *really* not interested in it... I hate the Demo tree. It bores the crap out of me.

Maybe something closer to this:

I do just fine with no points in HS as long as I have pots handy (and I usually do; my shaman never picks up any mana pots, ever).

The Eyes of Naxxramas are easy on a lock due to detect invisibility, but I can see how they would be an unexpected pain in the *** for other classes. As for myself, I could never get past the damn spider boss. To many interrupts for drain life and the seed explosion doesn't seem to kill the little buggers. Then again, I never have the optimal spec for doing that kinda stuff.

healthstone + health trinket + maybe healing pot is enough I find for the spider boss. for the little add I just searing pain it a few times. I find simply that dpsing it faster than it damages you is the way. that or have voidy tank it and kill it slowely.

Warlocks suffer in those instances, my pallie has no problems and dies between 0-2 times depending on carelessness. Lock however dies between 4-8 times irrespective of carelessness. Cloth + loads of mobs = dead clothie, the Eye of Naxx is responsible for more swearing than almost anything I can think of, just make sure that when it pops up you nail him ASAP! I use DC on him as it one shots him and is instant and does not cost a shard.

The billions of skellies after ramstein are a nightmare, if you slip up then its pretty much over, as whether you SS or corpse run there will be billions of skellies + 8 elite skellies (one billion and 8 if you will - 1,000,000,008) all of whom will promptly ignore your VW (or instagib him)then come and spank you like you were a little girl.

If you manage to chuck 4 or so seeds into the skellies then they all die (all billion of them), then you only have to deal with the 8 elites.

Or you can do what I just did which is get your first seed off then have the eye of Naxx turn up and call the entire instance to crack you like an egg.....Yes there was much swearing (see point above)

Thanks, all. :) I may just have to respec at some point and see how far I can get in there. :P

I haven't been in Strat much (actually, sadly, don't even have key on my warlock), so we'll see how it goes. However, I have never had problems with the skellies after Rammstein (actually, rank 1 hellfire can take them out if specced for intensity).

I actually was not aware of the EoNs being invisible, so thanks for that tip as well. :) The biggest problem I see is the Magistrate; I actually almost died on my shaman due to a 25-stack enrage (at least it maxes out). Baron himself should be easy.

Now, what about Scholo? I find I can pick up an assload of stuff for my alts to turn in for Argent Dawn rep in there (bone fragments, crypt fiend parts in specific). The hardest part I've come across so far is not even the magic immune mobs, but 1- Jandice Barov fight; 2- Rattlegore's adds (he's a boatload easier than the adds by himself).
