I need some advice...Follow

Alrighty, well...wish my first post had been a little bit more cheerful than this, so here goes. Basically, I had been enhancement and absolutely loving the spec from 1-70. Just recently though, I had specced to resto to help my guild do instances(MGT, MT, BM, etc.)as most of us just hit 70 this week. It's occured to me though...and this may be because I've only been playing the game for about 2 months, I'm not really having fun as a resto shaman. My gf wants me to tag along with her to do dailies, can't kill nigh as effectively as resto(obviously), so it provides me some solace. Other than that, I'm sitting around waiting to get picked up to do something. What do you guys, as fellow shamen, suggest I try? This is the first time I've been a healer in an MMO, and it feels like I'm only useful during group activity. Anyway...don't pull your punches when responding, this post sounds whiny. That's because it is, duh. :P Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I know how you feel. You are not melting faces with your damage but instead you are cooking those faces slowly. Killing things as resto shaman is so very very easy and safe but also slow and little bit boring.

You are working like ele shammy so open with Lb -> Chain lightning -> Frost shock -> distance, Lb/cl.
Try to pull as many mobs as possible to same location so you could use totems more. I had normally Woa, Healing stream, fire totem and I used flametonque on my weapon because it scales with spell dmg.

I had pretty decent gear when I hit 70 since I had 5 pieces of Merciless honor gear in bank waiting and then some nice instance drops. So when I hit 70 I got 1500 bonus heal and also nice dmg. I dont know if you are familiar with Bg's but running pvp while waiting for something else is guaranteed to give some nice drops.

Just go in Alterac valley and stick with some group and heal them. They will love you. Also as resto you have decent survivability and you might enjoy bg's. When I specced enha from resto I started dying a lot in battle grounds. No shield and also lacking that 200+ resilience that I had in my resto gear.

In instances (and otherwise also) take all spelldmg loot that you can get. You can use them while soloing to kill mobs faster. Also link your armory so we might give an advise about your gear. I hope you get some idea from here =)

Well of coarse your killing slower, your spec is ment for healing and survival.

It is not so bad though Flame Shock, Earth Shock, Lightning Bolt, Searing Totem, and even Flame Tongue Weapon can put out some decent damage as a restoration spec shaman in Healing gear. What I see most Restoration Shaman do is they seem to like to cast one Lightning Bolt and then follow that with a Flame Shock, for totems since it may take longer to kill try to place them in a good spot to pull enemies towards you and drop totems like stone skin, mana spring, wrath of air, and searing totem. Keep Earthen Shield on generaly but when needed try to build up your mana with water shield also.

Your lucky, not to long ago healing gear did not offer any spell damage so it is not so bad now, about one third of your healing will also provide spell damage which is way more then the old 0 increase to damage. Being restoration spec means when your not in a group you need to be patient, enemies are going to die slower but killing you should be pretty tough. Also, if you truely don't want to be restoration then go back to enhancement no sense not enjoying your own toon, you made him, you leveled him, you play him, if you don't want to be a healer then play a dpser and if your guild doesn't like it then whatever no point being in a guild helping them if your not having fun.

I would highly suggest you go get Alembic of Infernal Power for solo play and maybe even Power Infused Mushroom, those two trinkets are great for farming really help you keep up your mana when needed..

This is pretty much all that needs to be said on the matter.

This could be a costly option, but you can always re-spec to the situation. If you are doinga lot of grinding, go back to enhancement. When raiding, spec into resto. But hey, isn't that what the isle of Q is for?

Go back to enhance and get a priest to heal. The purpose of WoW is to have fun. If resto isn't fun, meh.
