I just got a Night Blade last night when I was grinding leather for my primalstrike set. I jsut hit 70 with my rogue a few days ago and am still sub. I had fun leveling with sub. I know I need to go combat and am thinking about using the Night Blade. When looking for an offhand, what do you guys recommend. I know there is the S2 offhand. Is that going to be my best bet? Thanks for the help.

Get a pair of swords, actually.

Daggers only go well with one spec right now: Mutilate.

I'm sure I saw this covered somewhere... like a sticky or something :)

For combat, swords are the optimal option. You're looking for the highest average damage main-hand weapon, and fastest available off-hand. The season-2 weapons are all pretty good for the amount of effort you have to put in to get them and should last you for a while.

Sub is not a dagger build.

If you love daggers--and let's face it: who doesn't?--then Mutilate will be a great option come patch 3.0 as noted above. Right now 2 fast daggers are marginally winning the DPS race, but don't be surprised if this changes at or just after release.

Welcome to 70, where you don't grind the rep... the rep grinds you!

I know swords is going to be the highest dps. I know at least that much. I just figured since I had the dagger, I would use. I played around with mut before and didn't like it. I was just wondering if combat daggers would be viable until I got some swords or should I just sell it and play with the level 66 fist and mace that I have till I get something else.

I haven't had any luck getting the oh sword out of bm or gotten into bot or arc to go for the fists to stay sub.

Combat daggers is never viable anymore.

Dagger/Mutilate will rock in a couple of weeks when patch 3.0 goes live. Combat Swords is still great as well. These are the two builds considered for highest available PvE DPS at the moment for the patch. Everything else, while fun and such, is less than optimal. With that said, I run my dailies as Shadow Step all the time (I PvP a little on non-raid nights) and it works just fine.

You mentioned going for a s2 off-hand in your OP. So I'm guessing that weapon choice is going to be one of the s2 stuff, which is all better than the drops in the instances you note (hell, they're better than most of the Kara stuff iirc). So really, your question is about spec then. Which is answered with daggers for Muti, swords for Combat, tea in the kettle, biscuits on the side ;)
