How will Enhancement change next patch?Follow

So in the next patch, agility will be boosted as a stat and give one AP. Strength will be nerfed and go from giving 2 AP per point to 1. This means that we will now stack agility instead of strength. However, most of our current enhancement gear is geared toward the old system; take the Merciless Gladiator's gear, for example. It is basically glorified "Of the Soldier" gear: strength, stamina, and crit rating. Post-patch, this set will be worth a lot less, right?

Does this mean Hunter gear will more or less become Enhancement gear? I mean, besides the mp/5, I think it would be perfect. It also means that any strength enchants will have to be changed to agility enchants. Our PvP gear will become MUCH less powerful, since we have no agility on it and strength will be half as useful as before.

Anyone on Beta or the PTR able to describe how the gear and style of enhancement will change? I'm mostly worried about the month or so up until the expansion, especially since my guild is currently plugging along in SSC/TK. My gear is lousy anyway (hit 70 about 4 days ago), and this might further limit my choicest, and consequently my chance at getting a raid spot. I'd like to do anything possible to avoid that (although the 30% hp decrease on bosses should help a lot).

If you only hit 70... then you should still have quest gear that's riddled with agility/AP since that's what hunters wanted. All you have to do is adjust a few pieces of equipment, buy a few greens, change a few enchants, change a few gems and you'll be fine. Most DPS classes will see either little change in their DPS or an increase.

It does suck that str gear is now wasted but with all the changes hunter gear looks promising, it is covered in agl int and ap so tons of ap for us from that gear, and with lava lash to add to our rotation and mealstrom weapon I think the mana regen will be welcomed from the gear as well. It does suck that our current pvp gear is getting the shaft though, be nice if they change all the strength into agility at least, or double all the strength on the gear..

I thought I read somewhere that blizz planned to replace the strength on the current enhance pvp and pve tiered gear with an equivalent amount of AP (2 AP per 1 strength). Maybe I was dreaming. Oh, I found it, not dreaming.

With all the new itemization, I think enhancement is going to be putting out a lot more dps than we are currently.
Crit is crit. Doesn't matter if it's melee or spell crit. I like that a lot. I'll be a critting machine next month!
So what if I have to repalce my enchants and gems... It'll all be worth it. I have no doubt I'll see a definate increase in my dps.
Granted, I'm not in the Beta... So I could be totally off base here... But from what I've read, I think I'm right...

The new itemization reduces the flavors of gear. Before there was healing, caster DPS, melee DPS, and ranged physical DPS mail.

Now there is caster mail and physical mail. So yes, enhancement and hunters share gear. That is why they changed the strength ratio. The gear wont exist to support it, the agility and AP on gear now becomes sexy and desired due to new talents. Think of all that agility raising your crit percentage.

They did the same thing with leather and plate. Leather has become caster and melee leather. Plate is healing, DPS and tanking.

Cloth is just caster cloth so it didn't change that much I guess.

Thank you so much! This has definitely reassured me :) Good to know Blizzard is taking the changes into mind and helping us before the expansion!

sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but what is the new enhancement dps rotation now? so far i have been able to make sense of SS>FS>Lava lash (should be outside WF cd after two gcd's)>ES if 5/5 maelstrom isn't up, else 5/5 maelstrom'd LB>renew FS

Don't forget Mental Dexterity: AP increased by 100% of Int.

I already have the problem of never being able to use all my good stuff when levelling. I keep forgetting to stormstrike or lavalash, and they're dead before I even realize it. I'd like to get back to some instances and polish my skills, but grouping is pretty bad for lvl 46-47 at 10 AM on the weekends on my server.
