I'm trying to tame this ******* and I did my research for on Petopia and thottbot and can't get a clear answer as to when he pops. A troll hunter was waiting for him when I got there and got it but he said it was 3.5 hrs. Other sources say 6-8. Does anyone which is correct.
Thanks in advance.

People have this argument with pretty much every rare mob, and no one ever comes to an agreement. Your best bet is to just not worry about the timer, and camp as much as you can.

When I tame rare spawns, I make the macro /tar mob's name, and bind it to my mouse wheel. It lets me mindlessly run around the spawning area while I watch a movie or something.

I'm camping him as I type this :)

I've read 4.5-5 hours, but as the above poster suggested, I'm not sweating it. I'm just hanging out there while tabbed out. If he shows up, great. If he doesnt, I'll get him later. So long as I get him before the patch goes live, I'm happy.

Are you guys expecting that he's going to be heavily camped when the patch comes? Because As far as I know, if you have a low-level pet now, it won't be leveled up to 65 when the patch goes live. You'll just have to level it up yourself.

I could just be going off of old news, because in the earlier days of the Beta, low level pets in the stables weren't being leveled, and Blizzard said that they didn't know whether they would do anything about it.

...But I guess that it doesn't take too long to level a pet. The sunfury camp in Terrokar makes leveling a pet so incredibly easy. I got one from 42-65 in a few hours of farming.

Fairly sure stabled pets were bumped to 5 levels below on the PTR.

And yes, I expect him to be heavily camped after the patch, gorillas have gotten much love from the pet update, and now function as the Paladin of tanking pets. As it is I'm not the only lvl 70 camping him on my server.

Thanks for the replies. After sitting there for 6 hrs he popped and was beating on me with U'cha (I was kind of back and forth at the time cause my g/f had come home from work). I released my trash mob, feigned, ice trap and he was mine.

I'm glad you mentioned the sunfury camp cause thats a good idea. I might go to the south and fight the Cabal (?) skirmishers and spell-casters. I'll give me practice my trapping and I'll get some aldor rep pieces :)

Thanks again.

Somehow I managed to stumble upon him by accident when I was looking for a high level pet to tame, managed to get 2/3rds of the way through taming before a 70 came by and one shotted him =/

I've gotta say, he does look cool. I'd never wait 6-8 hours for it, though.

I decided to give him a try. He is the most attractive of such an ugly pet class.

Ran down to Un'goro, and when I got into the cave, I saw him on my map (!). By time I got to his ledge, his name was Gorilla, and he belonged to a level 53 orc. I killed the Gorilla, and then took my frustration out on the jerk.

And then I decided to go tame a polar bear. I named him Cola, and I love him dearly. I don't think that I'll ever really need to tank more than 3 mobs at a time.
