Hi can someone give advice or direct me to a site/link that can explain Tanking multiples.
Last night got my first positive comment about my Tanking so getting there slowly, but as always theres a but, and that was i need to be able to hold onto at least a few mobs, any advice would be appreciated as i am sticking with this Tanking and want to get good at it. Im a lvl 70 warrior with over 500 in defence.

thanks

First things first, you must make sure the party you are grouping with understand the concept of focus fire. If your group does not follow a specific, premediated kill order, then you will most likely have a rough time tanking multiple mobs, especially in PuGs.

With that being said, this is generally what I would do to pick up multiple enemies:
- I would pull if at all possible, causing initial agro on myself. 99% of the time, charging is NOT a good idea, so stick with a ranged weapon.
- When the mobs close in, throw out a demo shout
- Slap a single devastate/sunder on the first target
- Thunder clap
- Slap another devastate or two on the first target

Your threat on the first target should be solid, as well as basic threat on the rest. You can now throw a few devastates on the other targets to start building up agro on them for easy transition. Some people like to do tab/sunders, but I personally like using a mouseover macro, allowing me to point at specific targets while I am still targeting the group's main target.

I've also heard of some preferring to use Shield Slam as an opener, but I've never really seen the need to do it. I guess it is just a matter of personal preference.

This is how I would try and handle multi-mob pulls, but if you are in a PuG, things will most likely not run this smooth every time. As you get more experience tanking multiple mobs though, you will be able to adapt and react quickly when a member of your group does something out of the ordinary.

That is my two cents. I hope it helps you out some.

I agree with all Meatballsub said. I'd also advise a Thunderclap every time it's off cooldown, and if any of the dps attacks the wrong target leave them to tank it (if it's not going to cause a wipe). A few corpse runs/10% damage penalties will soon keep them in line.

Did not see anyone mention raid marking multi-mobs. I'm at work so if I'm repeating anyone, sorry.

Mark the mobs OP. It'll help you kill them faster. With little chance of someone hitting the wrong mob, and getting aggro.

Imp. T. Clap will hold aggro off your healer, but not a melee attacking it.

You can key bind the raid mark icons. I have the main 5 bound: Skull, X, Moon for sheep, Star for sap, and Square for trap. I can mark a group of 5 in about 1 second =P Marking them correctly is a different story tho lol.

I also agree with meatball.Demo shout as they come to you grabs them and TC will hold. I am one of the ones that like to open with shield slam because its the highest threat we have, then devastate till revenge comes up. Make sure you mark them and the dps knows what mark to hit first(usually skull). What I like to do is when skull is 3/4 down I switch to X which is my second target, and let the dps down skull. This gives you a lead on the next target before dps starts in. Keep tc up but make sure your not by any cc mobs,,tc will break them Demo shout wont.
