AH it.. its too fast for ret. try to get something thats 3.5 speed or slower. that weapon won't be very much SoC dps which is currently our bread and butter seal till you hit 64 as horde or WotLK for alliance. slower harder hitting weapons will always be more dps for Ret though even then.

Since we're on the subject...

I know I'm getting a little ahead of this guy, but I'm putting serious consideration into scoring an Arcanite Reaper (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=12784;source=live) for my own ret pally so I was wondering what might be the most lethal enchant to put on it?

yeah, thats definitely a good ret weapon. as far as enchants, if you can afford it i'd say Savagery would definitely be the best for you.

To elaborate on this, Savagery is a constant increase to Attack Power. Mongoose is based on a proc, most other "good" weapon enchants are based on a proc. Almost everything a Ret Pally does is chance/proc based, so why add an enchant that is also chance/proc based? Get something reliable and steady like Savagery and it will up your DPS more on a much more reliable basis.

So +70 attack power is better then +20 STR?

1 str = 2 attack power
20 str = 40 attack power

So I would say that 70 attack power is definitely better than 20 str. Even when you add in Kings, which is why you usually choose str over attack power when they are approximately equal.
