Is it possible to beat a Walock with a Prot Pally?Follow

I can't seem to defeat warlocks when they attack. They simply coil/fear me, and keep me out of melee range until it's too late. I cleanse the debuffs/DoTs, heal when possible, bubble when low, but I can never seem to do enough damage to win the fight. Is there a specific strategy needed for victory? I don't seem to have this much trouble against the other classes... are warlocks just a bad match-up for pallies, or am I doing something wrong?

Edit: Everything I typed was irrelevant because I assumed you were ret!

As a prot pally, no. It is probably not possible to beat a warlock, or any type of caster. Protection is not a PvP tree, despite having some tasty PvP talents. You simply can't put out enough swing DPS to kill, well, anything, and high armour doesn't help at all against spell casters.

The best thing to do is really just run away.

The only way to beak a 'lock in PvP (world PvP or BG's or arena or whatever) as a Prot Pally is to have the element of surprise. If the Warlock gets off his DoTs and fears you, you are pretty much done, and should probably just eat your death rather than waste pots or cooldowns and save them for another fight.

If you can surprise the Warlock and HoJ followed by seal of Justice and throw your shield to daze him so that he isn't casting constantly and cannot easily get out of melee range, you have a CHANCE (depending on the 'lock's gear, trinkets, etc.) If you can get him down below 20% so you can Wrathhammer him, almost guarantees victory. Warlocks are generally very squishy, but you have to surprise them and do anything you can to interrupt/stun/daze them, or they will fry you like a corndog. Having improved bubble so your melee speed isn't reduced while bubbled helps too, but it is STILL tough.

The easiest way for a Prot Pally to beat a 'lock is to have friends around to help you and hope that the 'lock doesn't. Unfortunate, but very true!

Probably the only way to beat us is to be in melee range all the time. Once the fear train starts, you are toast. Use your bubble wisely. I just laugh when the pally bubbles right up front. I just wait for it to fall off and then kill you. Dots, fear (if your not already running of your own accord), and felgard.

I know people hate it when locks use fear and say we have no skillz, but that is the only escape mech bliz gave locks. So we use it. And I can tell you, we hate it when enemy locks use it on us.

But if you keep hammering on us, interrupt our spell casts, wipe the dots, clothies will go done fairly quickly.

The only classes a prot paladin can beat are dual-wielding melee classes without heals, of which there are two.

So you'll beat Fury Wars, who are also generally PvE specs, and Rogues. But you'll only beat Rogues if they don't stun you and just keep attacking. They won't die if they just walk away.
