Has anyone done this on their Shammy?
I tried it last night and couldn't kill him (he couldn't kill me either, but his skellies kept him topped up after my fire elem totem timed out so I just let him kill me).
I likely could have got him with better timing on my fire elem totem, but it seems a bit tight for actually farming him for the mount (I'm bored btw).

I am resto spec and considering an Elemental spec to go in with next time.
So any elem shammies farmed baron?

(oh and I recently got back from a LOTRO hiatus...LOTRO is a good game, but just doesn't quite scratch the itch)

Cheers!

Were you using holy water to kill the skellies too?

Personally since the CD is a little high, collect them and drop a searing totem on baron.
Take out the first round of skellies with the holy water, then drop a magma totem/fire nova for the second round, then back to the holy water. repeat. That sould be enough to get you through it. If its not then you could always get an immolation potion to help.

It took me FOREVER to figure out how to solo him. I was in the same situation. I couldn't kill him... he couldn't kill me.

The problem was the summoned skeletons would always kill my fire nova totem. I couldn't get aggro on them. At first I tried stoneclaw totem and then fire nova. It worked, but the cooldown on Stoneclaw was too long. I tried killing the skeletons one by one... LOL Resto isn't so good at that. I tried my Fire elemental, but it went OOM so fast it couldn't aoe them. So, the only way for me to kill them was still Fire Nova.

Then it hit me. Healing gives me aggro.

When Baron Riv summons the skeletons, wait about 1-2s after the last skeleton gets to you. Cast Lesser Healing Wave on yourself. Drop Fire Nova Totem. All the Skeletons die. Rinse and Repeat. Once I figured that out it was SO EASY.

Ah, thanks Jiade I'll have to go in and give that a try.

Got plenty of holy water now too, so I'll have that as backup.

I did get the BOE hunter bracers and pally belt from the old dungeon sets during the run. I remember how excited I was when I got those bracers on my hunter way back when dungeon blues were sexy. Memories.

Cheers!

I always saved my earth ele for the Baron.
Being elemental with good spell damage made this encounter trivial though.
I just opened with my nukes popped the earth ele, who would tank baron usually taunt the skeles and I would CL + magma totem them down, tossing the ele the odd healing wave.
