Anyone know what classes work well with mage for 2v2? I've been playing with my wife, who is a priest (currently holy, but that may change), and we finally got our rating over 1300 (if you saw her gear, you'd be impressed). Anyway - Any PvP advice would be helpful!

Also - I've heard there is some secret rogue & mage trick - anyone aware of that?

Thanks in advance!

The 'trick' you're on about is probably where the mage casts invisibility and the rogue and mage open on one target, nuking the hell out of him. I'm actually not sure how well priests work with mages, I've only seen mages with other mages, rogues and druids in the arena. I'll pass this on to the pro's here.

Thanks Mozared - If that's the trick they're talking about, I've gotta say, I'm not that impressed.

Also, between stuns and poly, you can pretty much lock down someone long enough to shatter combo + rogue burst down their partner.

It really depends on your opponent. The good mage/rogue arena teams usually time their CC correctly so that one target gets stunlocked until you burst down the other one.

Like when my friend rogue and I were versing a warr/druid combination, all we did was cc warrior and take down the druid. The druid runs away a lot and shapeshifts out of your snares which get's really annoying. The rogue should pull off a 5 combo point kidney shot and the second he does, you should immediately pull off a shatter combo. Usually people with teamspeak/vent time it incredibly good that the mage starts casting before the kidney shot is landed on the druid.

So overall, it's just C co-ordination with Nuking :P

The best Arena advice is to, in fact, coordinate with your partner. Get to know him/her, talk on vent, know each others play style, say what your doing and when your going to do it. Rogue Mage will be the best suited team for a Mage, but that's not to say that another class doesn't have the potential to do well.

I can say that I 2v2 with a fire mage friend, I am resto arena spec druid... it doesn't work real well. We have had a couple of matches come close, but most we are demolished... granted neither of us are geared too well or PvP masters. I would say a rogue mage combo would be nice as you would have massively high DPS. I've seen Mage/lock combos do well just the same.

If you can keep 1 of the 2 locked down polymorhphed or stunned and blast the other, if would be quick and painless... but you need to be geared to get the penetration.

Really it is going to depend on your skills and gear as a team. I've seen many combos obliterate us.

I'm pretty sure I've gone though this in other posts but I'll do it again out of boredom.

Mage/Rogue is the most common and easiset combo to play. Timing your burst damage as well as your sheeps and blinds are key but if you can do those you'll do pretty well.

Mage/Ret Pally is another good combo as long as your both very gear'd (so somthing to think about later on). It has some issues with druid/lock but destroys druid/war, sham/war, and druid/rogue. Since these are the teams you'll be seeing alot of this team works. Ret pallys seem to have a knack for keeping resto druids from running away.

Mage/Mage is a really "fun" combo but not really that effective at higher raitings. It requires ALOT of timing and coordination between the two of you and it's very hard to pull off. (Although if you REALLY want some fun, 3 frost/2 pom-pyro mages in a 5v5 is funny as hell to watch.)

Mage/Spriest is a really great combo to play. The coordination is pretty minimal at lower raitings save for "CC X and DPS Y". The squishiness can be a problem aganist teams with rogues (and duel rogue is painfull to watch), but you destroy caster teams like no other.

All of these are with frost mages. If you don't want to go frost then Pom-pyro mage/rogue is really your best option. The key is to make somone dead withing 4-5 sec and turn it into a 2v1 asap.

And ATM I'm working on a mage/enh sham. It's fun aganist caster teams but we're having some issues figuring out gear'd resto druids.

Finally, try and stay away from mage/healer teams. Smarter teams will know that they can just focus on the mage seeing as that will pretty much shut them down. Fighting a duel DPS team will make you tear your hair out. A sheep or a blind on the priest and you'll be dead before they can go "bahhhhh".
