Hello everyone I'm a earlyer wow player, and have now desided to start playing again as a druid.
I checked up on the Tauren and Night elf base stats wich is:
Tauren - Str - 25
Agi - 15
Sta - 22
Int - 15
Spi - 22
NE - Str - 22
Agi - 16
Sta - 23
Int - 19
Spi - 19
And to me it seems that Night Elf has slightly better base starts for druids, I mean more agility, more stamina and more intelligence. The tauren with more strength and spirit.
But Im not confident that Night Elf is the best race to play as druid, becouse of the race advantages.
NE
agility stamina intelligence + improved stealth + shadow melt + dodge chance 1% increase + nature resistance 5% increase
vs
Tauren
Strength spirit + warstomp + nature resistance 5% + Health increase 5%
(I've red that the 5% is going to be of the taurens base health and not from item stamina).
The warstomp seem very usefull to me, but its hard to tell, so I would like to hear some experienced opinions. I know there is many personal opninions, but please to to keep it convinient thank you.

I made a mistake in the first, I wrote that im confident that NE is the best- I really ment that Im NOT confident sorry!!
Nelf females are sexy. Get one asap.
PS- really, starting stats dont matter at all. Also, blizz seems to tweak the racials so all the races will be about as good both in PvE and PvP. Go for the looks.

NE's have cooler looking shape shifted forms. Taurens got hit with the ugly stick.
wich ever's *** you like looking at more when shape shifted cause thats what your gonna see the most of.
Racials change in the expansion.
Night Elf
- Quickness: reduces the chance to be hit by melee or ranged attacks by 2%
- Nature Resistance: reduces the chance to be hit by Nature spells by 3%
-shadowmeld: Activate to slip into the shadows, reducing the chance for enemies to detect your presence. Lasts until cancelled or upon moving. Any threat is restored versus enemies still in combat upon cancellation of this effect.
Tauren
- Endurance: now scales based on base health, to be tuned to approximately a 5% heath increase if the player were wearing green quality gear
- Nature Resistance: reduces the chance to be hit by Nature spells by 2%
Pretty sure NE's can't drink while Shadowmelded either or use it in some forms but I could be wrong.
Go with looks. Which model in the various forms do you like better. You look at it a lot. It wont change, ever.

I'm hoping that's a typo, otherwise that's a bit unbalanced.
I went Tauren myself, mainly because I liked Tauren from WC3, but Warstomp has saved my buutt many times. It's allowed me to get a heal off, interupt spells being cast, stop people attacking in BG's to be able to get away and so on.
Look, if you want to play a druid there is no point in trying to figure out which race is the bestest at it. The only question you should be asking is do your friends play alliance, or do they play horde. If you don't have friends that play then you need to decide which side you want to play, alliance or horde. The only time racials matter is when you are trying to achieve the cutting edge of raiding or PvP, and even then I'm not sure that really applies to Druids.
Micros, that is not a typo.
firstclassforever is very correct. It is in fact how I picked my race. My friends had rolled Alliance and convinced me to try WoW. Read up on classes liked druid the best and had the choice of NE or pick a different class.
I made the wise choice.

I rolled Alliance because that is what my friends played. I have certainly grown fond of my Night Elf after all this time, but as far as races go (racials, be damned) I love the look and feel of the Taurens. ...but I am a vain creature. I have trouble leveling my baby tauren past mid 20's because of that "cat form." Here is hoping my horned brethren get that much needed makeover soon.
In the end, it's really either about personal taste, or playing with your friends. Those both have more weight then racials and starting stats.

Yeah, you're wrong, no offense. Invisible drinking/eating rules.
New shadowmeld can be used in combat now. Detargets in PvP and deaggros in PvE.
Must of read something wrong about the drinking thing. I would of missed it greatly.

The new shadowmeld should still work in Tree and Moonkin. It probably still doesn't work in feral forms, but I haven't seen one way or the other.
Its really more of a matter of rather you want to be horde or alliance. Base stats don't amount to much of anything IMO.

I have a druid lvl 70 and it is a Night elf! Night Elfs are cool, but the male is pretty ugly.. Well, I am a girl, so it really doesnt matter! NIGHT ELF rules!

I partly agree with this. Tauren do have the worst cat form (by far) but the Tauren Bear form looks better than the pointy-eared Elf bear.

I'd feel better about my NE Druid if we didn't get our faces handed to us repeatedly in the Battlegrounds.
Please "talk up" if your comprehension white-shifts. I will use simple-happy language-words to help you understand.
I actually just traded my rogue for a tauren druid, and i must say im glad im a tauren and not a Nelf. Maybe its because i got so used to killing nelfs in PvP, or that nelf hunters seem to be the sterotypical noob on my server. But yea tauren are huge, and their cat form is god aweful, but if you look up at Gyrphonstalker's link we might get some changes. I know tauren bear is better (would like to see dire bear have some battle armor on it ^^) But just think, when u pwn someone in PvP, they gotta tell their guild they got beat by some guys ugly @ss lion.
