I went through and gave everyone a rate up in this thread to counter the person that was trolling.

I went through and gave rate-downs to counteract Theo's rate-ups. Or at least I would have were I not apathetic in such magnitude as to approach rigamortis.

Anywho, I'm holding my opinions about builds to see what goes live and what gets kicked in the head along the way. I'd love to see Mutilate become "the" raiding spec, but at the same time, I've lived with Combat this long, and I haven't rerolled out of sheer boredom yet (with any level of seriousness).

I'd love to raid Mutilate and not get laughed at.

It'd be a novel feeling.

I respect the fact he states his mind unabashedly and where there is actual information, it's right on-target. I don't agree with his delivery a lot of the time, but I can't do anything about that. He's a jerk but at least he's not duplicitous about it, doesn't hide behind any veneer. That's all I was pointing out and I doubt I'm alone in this view.

Personally, I rate up for accurate information and down for inaccurate; not because I "like" or "dislike" the poster. And I certain don't kiss ***. The rating system is only as good as those who use it and I'd rather new-comers to the site (like I was at one point) have the rating system be useful to them for evaluating advice and information rather than it being a gauge of who's the prettiest belle at the ball.

*edit: And I should point out that I have a great deal of respect for RPZip, Demea, MF and many other posters on this site for contributing to the conversations. Nobody is being forced to post their opinions/findings/musings/etc. We all post here for our own reasons and I've learned a ton from the conversations y'all have had. For that, I'm appreciative and that's why I started posting: to contribute.

Back to the topic:

Right now most raiding rogues I've spoken with are confident that Mutilate will be very popular, at least for 3.0. Let's hope and pray to the Blizzard over-lords that the current balance is close to what we get with release.

It's amazing, but I actually like the people on this forum that aren't retards.

Not because they think I'm the next coming of Rogue Jesus (because all the smart posters here know I'm not), but because they actually know what the **** I'm talking about.

Nah, odds are it's Vulajin or Ippon.

I'm just an average guy that likes math.

Anyways from what the blue links say on mmo-champion, the aim by Blizzard is to have the trees within a few percents in raiding DPS, and they believe that with natural variations in amount of DPS people do each raid they hope it'll make each viable. They have some rogue theorycrafting person on their team that spies on the communities (I see you spying!), and it seems they're taking a pretty math-oriented approach at tuning the rogue's trees.

(they don't account for the community bashing nonconformity until everyone uses the exact same cookie cutter build because to question otherwise would be an insult to someone's ego, even on things that don't actually make a big difference in the long run. If you're insulted, I might be talking about you!)

So I'm guessing we'll still see some buff/nerf cycles for a while before anything is set for the expansion.

It never ceases to amaze me that the most "respected" posters on the rogue forums are merely stating facts that anybody with the slightest inclination and a basic understanding of algebra could deduce by themselves.

Then again, you can lead a horse to water...

That's a blatant lie. I taught a horse how to fish once.

You underestimate just how lazy many players are. I'm a friggin' idiot but even I know how to google "wow hit mechanics." How many threads have we seen with "duh, is thes daggerz betta thun thes daggerz 4 pwn" or similar questions that can easily be answered with a 1 min WowHead search? Much less actually using basic calculations.

BTW, Demea's new avatar pwns daggerz

* Vitality increases your Energy regeneration rate by 8/16/25%. (Up from 3/6/10%)
* Blade Twisting changed to : Increases the damage dealt by Sinister Strike and Backstab by 5/10%, and your damaging melee attacks have a 10% chance to Daze the target for 4 sec.
* Aggression has been moved from Tier 5 to Tier 4. Now increases the damage done by Sinister Strike, Backstab, and Eviscerate abilities by 3/6/9/12/15%. (Up from 2/4/6/8/10%)

I guess we got the Combat buff that blue posters have been talking about lately. I'll leave the math to other people, because I would be ill suited for it. It looks like a sizeable buff to our yellow damage though (plus the buff to sinister strike could put a "normal" combat build back above combat shiv).

Combat and mutilate may start closer because of that, but mutilate will still pull ahead in later gear levels because the talents are more oriented towards finishers and white damage than the combat changes.

Those changes seem relatively minor compared to what I expected actually. My raid was thinking of having at least 1 combat and 1 muti.... these changes make me think we'll all just go muti and to hell with sword-swinging.

Of course, that could easily change in the next build.... so don't shard your Quickblades just yet. ;)

I'll probably end up staying combat until I get a reasonable pair of daggers. The new changes seem pretty nice, and it certainly isn't a weak spec. Muti just seems to be stronger at this point.

Besides, am I the only one who didn't get bored with Combat?

I was combat pretty much until I hit 70 when I went mutilate for a month or so.

It was so awesome, I swear it made losing fun.

I'm guessing something like this 5/51/5 build (or similar) is where we're all headed for combat in 3.0?

Maybe put those two into blade twisting instead of lightning reflexes now that it increases SS damage by 5%/10%

Like neuah

Also, as far as raiding goes, unfair advantage doesn't seem the most useful thing in the world. It sounds great for solo pve, but if you're dodging attacks in a raid, bad things may be happening already. =)

It sounds strange, but maybe throwing specialization instead? Extra interrupts, but its on ranged attacks, so I don't know how good that is either. Heck, maybe improved kick? :P

I should L2link this.

Unfair advantage is there to get to Prey. Throwing Spec and Imp Kick seem less useful in the build as they're pretty useless in most raiding situations (pvp gloves for when you rarely need the throwing interrupt) and UA would help speed up dailies to pay for repairs and enchant mats ;)

*edit: Endurance or Imp Sprint are up for debate. Right now I'm finding Endurance slightly more useful but at times miss Imp Sprint.
