Blizz wipes BG honor and tokens under WrathFollow

#1 Sep 25 2008 at 8:52 AM Rating: Decent
Like last expansion I have been saving up my battle ground honor and tokens in anticipation of getting better gear right away when I hit 80 under Wrath. I was really ticked when I found out Blizz is going to wipe out both honor and tokens with release of Wrath. The lame excuse they give is as follows:

“In order to make the transition from The Burning Crusade to Wrath of the Lich King flow as smoothly as possible, all accrued honor points will be reset at the launch of the expansion. We do this to ensure select players do not have an unfair advantage at level 80 from stockpiling honor to instantly purchase the newest Wrath of the Lich King PvP rewards.”

So way back when we transitioned to BC it didn’t go smoothly because I and many others saved up our honor points? I don’t agree.

Everyone who knows that Wrath is coming out and has a level 70 has the same opportunity to save honor points as I do, and now I and others are select players who could have an unfair advantage? I don’t agree. It is just lame.

Blizz is going to compensate us for out time by offering us Cloaks and trinkest to spend our honor and tokens on. See:

I was thinking of going for this cloak for my Lock.

Sergeant's Reinforced Cape
Binds when picked up
Back
130 Armor
+42 Stamina
+26 Intellect
Requires Level 70
Equip: Improves your resilience rating by 30 (0.76% @ L70).
Equip: Increases spell power by 33.

But I have decided now that there is no since in doing BGs I might as well just discontinue my account for a few months.

They posted something similar (a bit less informed actually) on the US forums. I like how they disregarded mentioning marks in both posts, though. I couldn't care less if they reset AV and EotS marks, but WSG and AB marks ... yeah, they can pry them out of my cold, dead fingers, as someone else put it.

have to agree.

Plus just because you're 70 doesn't mean that you have 20 hours a day (4 hours to sleep/eat) to gain a ton of honor/marks for better gear. Plus didn't they wipe honor with BC? It's basically just so you can't blow through the quests in a week, hit 80, start raiding and while waiting for group to pull together to raid head on down to good ol' STV and gank all the poor undergeared lowbies.

Gaining honor and marks isn't that hard to do given you find a good PUG or have a true PVP guild.

The problem there is usually when you're in a raiding guild, PvP becomes an automatic sideling.

My concern about this isn't so much the honor, as the marks (which I have heard confirmation those are also getting reset).

The other thing is, S4 gear is already going to be a step ahead of everyone else in terms of resilience, if the PvP blues aren't available right at 80 (meaning, you need to grind honor/marks for them). Secondly, if they introduce resilience on quest rewards as they did in BC, then there's something else.

You will be starting in at L70 or lower when WotLK is released. You have a whole ten levels before you reach 80. Why are you worrying about what happens at 80 when you will have plenty of time to get honor/marks while on your way?

Some people will rush to 80. There are many people that are interested in either raiding or arena, and both of those groups will most likely be among the first to get to 80.

We had hoped that the introduction of some new Honor rewards in the upcoming patch would give players a great opportunity to spend any of their remaining Honor. However, many players would still be surprised by an Honor and token reset as it isn’t something we’ve done in the past. As such, we've decided to not reset Honor or tokens upon the release of Wrath of the Lich King. Players who save their Honor will be able to spend it on level 80 rewards, although those rewards will be significantly more expensive than their level 70 counterparts.

The box just below the blue link is the information contained in the link. No, they are not resetting now.
