Silly question regarding leveling in a prot build. It sounds very interesting to me....are you planning on playing in your dps gear, with the exception of the sword and board?
I would assume so, to get the most dps bang for you buck.
Damn that 5/5/51 build looks great, and now can finally be the build that will allow us to stay in one spec while question/solo'ing and also running the odd dungeon.
You'll want to level in the gear with the most AP on it, so yeah - initially that'll be your DPS gear. You may, however, find some decent tanking gear going forward with perfectly adequate AP stats on it, at which stage, you'll probably be able to solo in your tanking gear.
Personally, if I decide to go with the prot solo option, I'll be doing so in my best DPS gear, and I will be focussing on picking up DPS gear over tanking gear as I level.
It's an incredibly exciting time, because for the first time ever, the prot tree is not simply there for tanking, but rather for someone who wants to play a warrior with a shield.
GC said in a recent post that the intention for the 3 trees is :
Arms - You hit (and Hurt) stuff with a big 2 handed weapon,
Fury - You hit (and Hurt) stuff with 2 weapons,
Prot - You hit (and Hurt) stuff with a sword and shield.
If this philosophy comes to fruition properly, we'll have warriors in a place I've wanted them since I started playing. I've always hated the idea of a warrior who gimps himself because he equips a shield, that's just not the way a warrior is.
Wow, I'm actually talking myself into wanting to level prot, and it's working :-)
