Epic flight form: better late than never!Follow

So tonight I finally got my epic flight form quest finished, and boy am I loving it! It took quite a while to get the group together, and I was a little worried; the final composition ended up Druid tank, Boomkin, Hunter (with Champion of the Naaru title), elemental shaman, and priest (in one of the formerly best guilds on the server. Apparently they've been dissolved since Beta though, so it might not mean anything now). Not a ton of CC, but a decent amount.

We wiped 2 and 4/5 times on the way through; first time on the first boss (too many adds, so many debuffs!), second time when the hunter's pet broke his trap, allowing me to get stunned for 5 seconds, feared for 5, then feared again, while everyone died, and the last time I was the last man standing on Ikiss (or whatever the last boss's name was).

That last fight was actually awesome. Our priest lagged on the first burst, and died. On the second one the hunter ran in the wrong direction and died. Shaman pulled aggro and went down. Druid was killed by volleys and died before getting his hp back up. At 30k hp left on the boss it was down to me. I popped my trinkets, my healing macro, and the shaman reincarnated to get off one last heal to help me take down the boss. AWESOME ending.

The Anzu fight was hectic, but no deaths. I don't think we ended up using the statues almost at all, because the other druid didn't understand the mechanics well. It probably would have helped more than a bit, but oh well, we did it, and HUZZAH!

That was only my 4th or 5th heroic, so it was a blast :) I'm loving the skies again!

All right!

I'm on the final part of the quest but have been trying unsuccessfully for 5 days now to get a group for H-sethekk. I guess I need to wait til it's the daily or something.

The Anzu fight is just cool. I appreciated after everything that went into getting to that point that it wasn't a particularly difficult fight. I've been spending most of my WoW time on my rogue lately and still find myself trying to hit my swift flight hotkey and expecting to turn into a bird...

I'm not clear on how we're supposed to do this after WOTLK is released. The other class mounts are still quest and dungeon driven, but not in a heroic dungeon, which requires the group to have already got the heroic key etc, which many people won't bother with.

A quick little note, when you do Anzu you'll notice that three aspects of hawk/falcon/eagle (I think that's the three) will pop up around him, mark them with a raid icon and have a druid throw hots up on each one. They will come to life and help you out as you fight Anzu.

One of my guildie's has the raven lord mount too, lucky sob.

Just let people know you can summon Anzu, you'll probably get more tells if people know there is a potential for a mount.

I managed to knock out my swift flight form last night as well. Party was similar to yours, hunter, rogue, holy priest, boomkin and feral(me) tanking. Good times and I'm loving the quick herbing now.

Congrats!

And thanks, all :) I'm just glad I got it down before the expansion, both for the reasons cushley said (everyone will "lolheroics" at 80 and not have a key), and because downranking is getting taken out and rank 1 will cost as much mana as rank 6 rejuvination. Now a druid who is keeping up the spirits will run out of mana quicker!

Granted at 80 it'll be a joke anyway, I'm sure. And we did fine last night without using the spirits; the damage reduction and AoE would have been nice for the swarms >_>

Grats Locke and Skibum!

I have this on my to do list also. I have all of the quest chain done, now I just need to get into H Sethekk. Of course I first need to get enough rep to get honored so I can get the key, lol. My druid is my third 70 and relatively new. And, usually when I try to run something it's for CE rep...I'm only 2.5k awasy from exalted. Also, unfortunately, it seems that more and more most of the regular instances are not run much any more. I guess I need to cajole some guildies into helping, even though I normally don't like to do that. The mount possibility sounds like a good angle though.

Big congratz to all those in the thread that managed to get the epic form! /thumbs up

I am just a couple quests from the Anzu summon myself, but I am scared that I am not geared enough to heal since I will be pugging it. Can anyone make any stats suggestions in regards to +healing and mp5?

Thanks in advance - My druid's armory

Loganaar, in the Moonglade starts the questline.

Note: To start the Swift Flight Form questline, you must have 300 riding skill (5k).

I also got the epic flight quest done on my druid last night, with a priest (healer), boomkin, feral druid (DPS), feral druid (OT), and warrior (MT). The two feral druids, with mine being the off-tank, both needed the quest finished for the enhanced flight form. Believe it or not, this combination, with no real CC, worked pretty well. Healer mana was a bit low after the fights, but he is notorious for over-healing, so I do not blame the team makeup too much.

As well as every thing went through Anzu, with a couple of wipes happening before we realized that the prophets (chain-fearing SOBs) needed to be planned for and terminated ASAP, we simply could not take down Talon King Ikiss. His arcane volleys, and our lack of Arcane protection pots or resistance gear, resulted in the healer being unable to keep many alive, if he managed to not be the first person to die in combat.

I also wondered how this is going to play out. Last night I was joking with the group members that, with the expansion, they will probably have it as something that can be learned from a trainer, after we had gone to all of the effort.

I don't think so. The pally and the warlock epic mounts still take you into vanilla instances, so unless they redo the lot and just have them trained (which I doubt) I think you'll just end up 2/3 manning it at 80.
It won't hurt people too much, as they would get it at 70 (if they were even still in Outland at 70) and then straight to Northrend, where.... they can't fly till 77. I'd just buy the flight skill, get the el cheapo normal epic mount and wait till I had a chance to go get the swift form.
Just my thoughts anyway.
