Spell Hit CapFollow

#1 Sep 24 2008 at 3:26 PM Rating: Decent
I am an Affliction warlock and do mostly PVE with a few arenas thrown in for the fun of it. I have been reading these forums for a while now and have quite possibly a silly question here.

I am aware that u need 202 Spell Hit for raids, and apparently if u have 5/5 Suppression your Spell Hit only need to be 76. Is this the correct figure or if you have 5/5 Suppression do you still need 202 Spell Hit rating.

I will try to link my character if it doesnt work the toons name is Catiest on Frostmourne realm. i have gemmed for spell hit and with full Suppression i have a Spell Hit Rating of about 174 I think is that to high with Suppression and should i stack Spell Damage instead of Spell Hit if I have to much Spell Hit.

Thanks for any replies.

you need 202 hit regardless. suppression only works for afliction spells, and even as an afliction lock up to 60% of your damage will come from shadowbolt, so basically the talent is there just as a filler to get you to the hit cap for 1/2 your spells, but in the end you still need 202 hit.

^ what Jenova said. The reasons for spell hit are Shadow Bolt, Banish (you will use these on 73 mobs occasionally), Immolate, Enslave Demon (very limited use, but also on 73 mobs) and Soulshatter. The biggies are obviously Sbolt, Immolate and Soulshatter. With 174 spell hit, you could drop down to 1 point in Suppression and be effective with your affliction spells, but the idea is to get hit capped so you can do maximum damage against raid bosses.
