What is best to level beyond 40? Stay feral, or switch to moonkin? I hear quite a few back and forth discussions on this and the only thing i get is "depends on your style". My style is for which ever one kills fastest with minimal downtime.

Also as druids does our travel form have the same speed as commensurate mounts? It seems my current travel form is as fast or faster then my mount? Will this apply to level 60 when its time to get the epic? Do i get a faster/improved travel form? I am currently 34 and feral spec'd.

Lastly, @ 70 which of the 3 talent trees will get me into more instances/groups while somewhat preserving my digity with decent DPS? Now if i have to forego my DPS to get into a group so be it, but if i can have some cake with oreos instead of just cake then ..sweet.

I hear alot of back and forth about gear @ 70 and PvP, what gives?

By the way ...droods are definately a kick *** class, just in case some had a doubt. This will probably become my main toon as it is limitless.

Wow, that's a lot of questions.

Spec is really up to you and what you enjoy more. I found feral to be very efficient and great for leveling. Not much downtime required between fights. But, I planned all along on being feral at 70, so I never went any other route. I can't compare it to Boomkin.

Travel form is one speed (40%) and it doesn't get upgraded. Land mounts are always faster. Regular mount is 60%, epic mount is 100%.

As for what to do at 70, it's really up to you. Tanks and healers are always in demand. Boomkins are somewhat maligned, but a lot depends on gear and the player. Don't plan on cake and oreos. No class/spec really gets both...there's always trade-offs. Pick a role that you think you'll enjoy and try it out.

There are four things that slow a player down while leveling (aside from not knowing where you're going, but quest addons help with that now).

1) Killing slowly.
2) Dying a lot.
3) Recovering HP.
4) Recovering mana.

Ferals kill quick vs. single targets.

Ferals survive well with the option to shift to bear and tough it out or book it. Either way, there's tons of survivability for druids, especially at 40 when you get Dire Bear form.

Druids can heal themselves, regardless of spec, but ferals get the benefit of recovering health when they crit if they spec ILoTP. Since you're not using your mana to harm your enemies, it's basically used for shapeshifting and healing yourself. If you're too low on mana to heal, there's always the option to bandage and keep moving. Unless you're taking an absolute beating (ie. fighting mobs well above your level or not being smart about how you play), you'll rarely go OOM just trying to keep yourself going between fights.

Boomkins have the ever-present mana issue to contend with that doesn't lend itself to prolonged grinding on par with ferals. It's not as bad as it can be for some other classes, but the second you have to stop to drink, you just lost the longevity race with the feral.

Generally speaking, feral is the fastest leveling spec.

Travel form is slower than even a regular mount. It probably just seems faster because it's instant cast and you can start moving right away instead of waiting 3 seconds first.

All will get you groups, though tanking or healing will get you groups significantly faster most of the time.

PVP requires a different set of gear because in PVP you have different stat priorities. In PVE when you have standard group setups with tanks and healers and such to protect you, you want flat out damage/healing/tanking stats. In PVP however some of that has to be sacrificed for survivability. That's why the multiple gear sets for PVE and PVP.

There are 2 things to consider with leveling speed. One is the actual time taken, and the other is the perceived time taken.

My Pally was actually fairly quick to level, especially once I went prot at level 40 oe so, but it seemed to take forever because I don't particularly enjoy soloing on my Pally (instances are more fun though). My mage on the other hand took a bit longer but seemed quicker because I enjoyed the challenge of having to keep mobs at range till they died.

Feral is generally believed to be faster leveling wise than balance, but if you enjoy playing balance more then you will probably find that it seems quicker. I love feral so it was an easy decision for me :)

IMO they level at the same speed. yes balance has to drink more, but you kill mobs a lot faster making up for your "down time" and you never really have to heal yourself as balance do to roots.

travel form is a 40% increase. level 30 mounts are 60%.

feral to tank. resto to heal. balance if you want to get asked to respec.
I've been trying balace out lately at 70, and when ever i go into LFG i leave "BOOMKIN DPS" in the comments, and the only wsp I get are "can you tank?" or "can you heal?" when I reply I'm balance dps spec I never get a response back lol

if you want to PvP, grind honor in battlegrounds and get some PvP gear.. if you want to run raids and instances stick to mostly PvE gear that drop in 5-mans
