Hit Rating in WotLKFollow

This just occurred to me, and has probably already been thought of but I was wondering about confirmation and other people's thoughts. Also if I'm wrong I need someone to ***** slap me and let me know.

Hit "Cap" is 363 for bosses because they are calculated as 3 levels above us yes?

Attack Type Boss (73) Lvl 72 Lvl 71 Lvl 70
Special 64 16 8 0
White 363 316 308 300

Which is why this chart from the EJ Rogue DPS thread applies, the lower/closer to our level the mob is the less hit rating is needed to negate miss chance.

So, my question is, since at level 80, we will still effectively be 3 levels under the boss, will the hit cap still be 363?

Now, assuming my logic is correct, looking at the WotLK gems which literaly double in terms of the number of stats they give from what I'm seen;

I.E Blue Hit Gem gives 16 Hit Rating instead of 8 Hit Rating, Blue AP Gem gives 32 AP instead of 16 AP

Does this mean we'll be able to get closer to the Hit Cap through gemming and gear in general? And because of this mean that Hit while still being important will be more like expertise where its entirely possible to go over the cap thus meaning we need to gem in other ways?

DISCLAIMER: I'm on heavy pain meds and this occured to me when looking at the list of LK gems in another thread. If I'm stating the obvious feel free to point and laugh.

But I assumed since the amount of other stats on gear was going up so would the amount of hit, thus leading to caping of hit much easier than in BC.

Am I an idiot, stating the obvious, or onto something here?

Protip: The amount of combat rating needed to achieve 1% of any stat increases as you level. That was the whole point of introducing it instead of leaving the gear as "1% hit" like it was pre-TBC.

I think everything will scale up, in normal WoW the hit cap wasn't as high as 363 on bosses, so i can only imagine the hit cap will get higher. Not sure what it will be though

>< Thank you for pointing that out to me...

So same percentage but more rating?

I am an idiot.

EDIT: And that's the entire reason I made the post, I knew it couldn't be that easy...

Nah, Therion is really the only sage we've had posting here regularly.

Robert (I think) is another, but he doesn't post that much.

I should be a sage (or guru, tbh) BUT NO ONE RATES ME UP. Smiley: frown

Actually I think it's all the rate-downs I get in General.

I'm going to start a campaign to get myself guru.

Just to **** Wordaen off.

Yeah, GodofMoo was sage yesterday, clearly he pissed a few people off, and was down-ranked. Heh, just rated you up for the hell of it, and what do you know ... ;-) ...

And yeah, I've been sage for a while, although I can't for the life of me think why. I'm nowhere near as informed as a fair deal of posters. A few people clearly felt that I enriched their lives with a post or 2 in the past.

And yeah - with all the rate ups you get on the rogue forums, it could only be masses of rate-downs elsewhere where you ruffle feathers that has kept you from sage (or even Guru) - I'm guessing some of your forays into the Shammy forums to be the biggest culprit ... I don't think you have many friends there ;-) For the record, I gave you a few rate-ups ... hope that helps a bit :-D

As for the hit cap thing (yeah, what this thread is about) .. At level 80, it's about 32-33 hit rating per 1%. So if the enchants and gems seem like they're double, they are so for a reason ... you'll expend the same effort at 80 to get your x% of hit that you did at 70 getting the same percentage.

As was pointed out earlier, this was changed so that you would actually have to improve your gear to get the same percentage hit % (or crit% for that matter) as you level.

Hey I'm a sage and I used to post a lot. Just haven't been able to log on as much lately.

Based on this I'm figuring it out to be 37.33333 hit rating for 1% melee hit ar level 80.

Be prepare for needing RIDICULOUS amounts of hit rating to be hit capped for bosses.

Try "Rogue LFG Naxx 900 hit rating, 2000 AP, 30% crit".

That is if they don't do something about DW classes needing ~28% hit to be hit-capped against bosses.

**** you hit, **** you.

And I highly doubt they'll change our reliance on hit, that would make us kinda Overpowered unless they nerfed us in someway that would make all rogues cry.

Unfortunately, I agree with you.

It would be nice if maybe, just maybe, they increased Precision to be 10% melee hit.

They did say they were homogenizing our gear with feral druid gear. Ferals don't need nearly as much hit rating as we do. To me that sounds like there just isn't going ot be as much hit rating to be had without taking pieces of gear that force us to lower other DPs stats in favor of hit rating.

I just don't know what to expect, and I'm in the beta!!

Edit: It's looking like it's gonna take 859 hit rating with precision to be hit capped for bosses.

On the other hand Ferals need more AP than we do, yes?

So we would in effect be trading Hit for AP if Feral and Rogue gear is going to be very similar...it'll suck for working towards hit cap but at least we won't be getting totally ripped off.(I hope).

Question would be, if Feral and Rogue iis being mixed, are we going to be seeing gear Rogues want with STR on it?

Pretty much all of the leather melee gear is agi, stam, AP. Some of it has some hit on it, some has crit, some has expertise. Overall just about the only gear with str on it is plate gear.
