Keep in mind those are all learned from the JC trainer and not special drops or rep. related patterns. I got JC up to 355 yesterday and hoping to find some of the epic trinkets from wotlk to ease my mind on wether i made a massive mistake or not.

Nice find.

I am curious about The Sons of Hodir though. Are they a horde only faction? The only reason I ask is because they have the mammoth, which indicates it is a horde only mount, but they are also the only ones who have shoulder enchants.

So are the Panther and Serpent, which are just about the only reason to take jewel-crafting in TBC. By proxy, the new LK patterns are teh suk so far.

Sons of Hodir are a neutral faction of Vyrkul in Icecrown Peaks that you can eventually befriend after some quests. Both factions can do so.

So is there an Alliance mount that we can get or is the Horde races thing wrong for the mammoth?

Mammoth is both factions, and that's intentional I'd imagine. The Grand Caravan mammoth is definitely both factions.

Where'd you hear they were Horde only?

When you click on the "Reins of the Ice Mammoth" link you get this picture ^^ and right at the top it says "Ore, Undead, Tauren, Troll, Blood elf.

I hope this is for both alliance and horde.

Yea, that was what I was looking at. Seems if it was for both factions it wouldn't have any race listed at all.

BS is a waste of time at this point for rogues.

One gem slot (that we're not even sure is something exclusive or not) and mediocre weapons that are replaced very quickly is not a good reason to take the profession.

As far as I can see, you get the ability to add a socket your Bracers, Gloves and Belt, as well as adding a socket to a 1 handed weapon.

True, going purely by the descriptions, it's unsure whether these modifications are for yourself only, or if you can get a BS to do it for you.

The Bracer and Gloves socketing appears to be self only ... description is "adds a socket to your gloves/bracers"

The belt buckle looks like something you can craft and trade, like enchanting scrolls.

The socketing of a weapon's description is "adds a socket to a one handed weapon", so it appears that you can get a BS to do that for you. Nasty possible effect though .. Wowhead's spell details for this says it's a permanent enchant, which means it won't stack with enchanting enchants. So, something to use while levelling only.

And yeah, I know the epic weapons are not that great when compared to the Arena weapons, but they are the basic epic weapons (dunno why they, or any of the other gear available now, are epics anyway - but that's a debate for another day, maybe another life), and are learned from the trainer. I believe the higher level, BoP weapons which require master specialisation will be very competitive. Ofc, if you don't do arenas at all .. even these weapons appear to be quite worthwhile at this stage.

All that being said, I'm skinning / leatherworking atm, and fully intend staying that way ... gief fur lined goodies ;)

I don't even think its as good as that. I think if you are a weaponsmith you can add a gem socket to a 1H weapon (possible 2 for a 2H weapon?) and then if you are an armorsmith you can do the sockets related to armor.

However if these gem sockets do not stack with enchants then this is utterly pointless, my original thought was hit 80 get best rings possible from pvp for that season then lvl enchanting and get stats on rings, then lvl BS and get these additional sockets on gear (again no point if they don't stack with enchants) then finally lvl JC for the unique JC only gems.

Socketing items don't appear to require a specialisation (ie, they don't say "Require Armorsmith / Weaponsmith", etc), so I don't think that's a concern.

As for the sockets not stacking with Enchants, it seems to only be an issue with the socket weapon option. It's a supposed issue, based purely on my interpretation of the details from Wowhead, so don't take it as 100% fact. It is, however, a possible concern nevertheless.

The belt buckle looks simple enough - it's like the current leatherworker's leg enchants.

As for levelling a profession, getting the prof specific benefit, dropping it (I'm assume you're talking about dropping it) in order to level another profession and stack the benefits ... keep in mind that when you drop a profession, you would lose access to anything that required you to have that profession in the first place. I'm not 100% sure you can enchant your rings as an enchanter, then drop enchanting and keep the enchanter specific enchant. (Edit : I see what you did there, if socketing doesn't require a specialisation, then you could do this no problem, as you items would still be socketed)

Ofc, any and all of this can change, so it's pure conjecture at this stage anyway. ;)

Thanks for clarifying Theo. Wonder why they bothered adding that if overall everyone can use them. Maybe because of the robo chickens only being able to be ridden by gnomes and dwarfs?

Yeah but that is a brown bear. What about the "Reins of the Ice Mammoth"? Is that a totally fake mount? Or is it for both Alliance and Horde?

It looks like the mammoth will be the same as the bear, both factions. Theo was making the point that even though it has specifics on who can learn it (keep in mind mounts are no longer items but more like spells) it is not alienating the other faction. More than likely the requirements are there to show who can learn the "spell". More than likely all mounts will have similiar listings in the patch or expansion, and you will see that Mechostriders will only say Gnome and Dwarf.

Same with the horde mounts, wolves and kodos will list every race, but Tauren will not be on the others.

What's the difference between a grand ice mammoth and a normal one? They have the same price listed.
