Last night I received a whisper asking me to heal Seth Halls. I told the person sure and informed him that I was Feral Spec'd with +630 healing gear in case he wished to find someone else. He didn't. So we're running through the instance with a druid tank, a paladin, a rogue, and a hunter and I'm healing. I basically used rejuv and life bloom throwing out a regrowth or HT if needed. Everything went pretty well, upto the last boss the only time someone died it was me and once the paladin. The point is the tank didn't die. Anyway we get to the last boss and the leader asked if everyone knew the fight. I said no because this was my first run through SH. I'm told the boss throws out arcane blasts that will easily kill you, so I should duck behind a piller when he's about to fire one off. I first time he did this I didn't move fast enough and died. We wiped, my fault. Then we wiped two more times. After the first wipe the tank noticed that I was Feral spec'd and commented on it. After the second wipe he quit the group and we got an Orc Warrior to come in to tank. After the third wipe the Orc warrior switched out to his healing paladin and I tanked. We easily finished off the last boss at that point.

So my question is this: Is there a trick to healing during the last boss fight? Because we made it through the rest of the instance with little to no trouble I figure my healing gear and style were ok. I logged out in my Feral gear so looking at my armory profile won't help. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Hakana

The trick is for everyone to avoid getting killed by arcane explosion. If they get hit by it, you can't really do anything about it. After each explosion, the boss resets aggro as well, so the dps have to let the tank regain aggro. If they don't, it will be an unnecessary pressure on the healer.

I would guess that is what happened to your group. You can heal the fight just fine, but if the dps do not wait and end up tanking for a bit after each explosion, you'd need an overgeared healer to survive.

If everyone do their part, it's an incredibly easy fight. I have duoed it (druid tank+healer) on heroic mode. Fun :)

The fight is pretty nasty not only for the Arcane Explosion but he does an AoE arcane bolt that ignores line of sight. These hit everyone in the party for about 1600 damage. He always seems to do this just as I start to bandage as well making it very annoying.

I ran that place for the first time tanking on my feral, while a prot pally healed. We cruised through the place up until the last boss, and kept wiping. The guy was a mensch, he agreed to be replaced by a 70 resto shaman. We downed the boss in one try.

It's a tough fight to heal, especially because a lot depends on the other party members' positioning. As a druid you have the advantages of being able to heal while running behind the pillars. However, if the group members dont all run behind the same pillar you may get an out of range or los problem when Ikiss unloads that arcane bolt. I just healed it last week on my new resto shaman and chain heal was useless because our ranged people kept running for different pillars than our melee. We downed him, but it was a nail-biter.

A good place to fight him, rather than the pillars, is the doorway to his room. You can hide behind other side of the enterance when he does the aoe, but everyone will be bunched together, ergo easier to heal and easier for the tank to pick him up.
