I'm also trying to muddle through whether it'll be tolerable to level Holy in Wrath, and I think I might be stuck on something fairly dumb.... It also provoked a little debate while looting last night and unfortunately I can't call up an answer readily.
Does anyone know yet how the +healing and +spell damage on our current gear, gems, and enchants are supposed to convert to +spellpower? Many of the DPSers and healers I know are both fairly convinced that their gear is going to be nerfed, relative to the other role's gear.
For example, two otherwise equivalent pieces of gear:
Guardian's Ornamented Belt and
Guardian's Lamellar Belt The stats are identical, except for a +75 healing/+25 spell damage on the former versus a straight +40 spell damage on the latter. Some anonymous underinformed sources think that the first belt, post-patch, will have +25 spellpower, while other sources, equally anonymous and underinformed, think the first belt will be equalized to that of the spell damage belt and have +40 spellpower, post-patch.
Patch Notes wrote:
Spellpower:
All items and effects which grant bonuses to spell damage and spell healing are being consolidated into a single stat, Spellpower. This stat will appear with the same values found on items which grant “increased spell damage and healing†such as on typical Mage and Warlock itemization.
For classes which do not heal, they should see no change in the character sheet other than new tooltip wording.
Healing characters will see their bonus healing numbers on the character sheet decrease, however, all healing spells have been modified to receive more benefit from spellpower than they received from bonus healing, with a net effect of no change to the amount healed by their spells. Some talents have had to be rebalanced to accommodate this change, but the amount healed will remain roughly the same. In addition, some talents will provide only healing spell power.
The patch notes appear to support either interpretation. Any advice from someone in Beta or on the PTR would be greatly appreciated!!
