that the theorycrafting being run on Shadowpriest.com is correct.

Ok, I re ran my Naxx10 geared Spriest vs Mages SimCraft passes this evening. I've made some changes in the gear set ups since the numbers earlier in this thread - Priests gearing needs obviously don't include Spirit anymore, so I've tried to pack in as much Crit / Haste / Spellpower as possible. Priests & Mages are still in 5 piece 10 man T7, plus 'best in slot' 10 man drops. Trinkets are now included since they're in the latest build.

The Spell Hit cap at 80 is 289 from gear (446 naked) for both classes with their natural talented 3% to hit buffs and 3% from Misery / Fairie Fire. I've tried to get Spell Hit as close to that figure as possible, while maximising other stats.

Lastly, finalish looking enchants for WotLK are coming out. Shoulder and Head enchants are up on MMO Champion today, along with some actual Enchanter enchants. Therefore I've removed all the 'leaked' one's from the gear setups (which were mostly wrong!) and only included those in the latest beta build.

Gear breakdown tomorrow morning, as I popped to the pub 1/2 way through typing this post, and just want to get it up now!

Shadowpriest:

Stamina: 691
Intellect: 678
Spirit: 395
Spellpower: 1647
Crit Rating: 477
Haste Rating: 234
Hit Rating: 274

Mage:

Stamina: 695
Intellect: 683
Spirit: 356
Spellpower: 1587
Crit Rating: 515
Haste Rating: 226
Hit Rating: 273

SimCraft results:

3408 13.5% Mage_ArcaneSpam
3283 13.1% Priest_Shadow
3094 12.3% Mage_Fire
2976 11.8% Mage_FrostFire
2838 11.3% Mage_Frost
2698 10.7% Mage_Arcane
2675 10.6% Druid_Balance
2316 9.2% Shaman_Elemental
1845 7.3% Priest_Holy

(I still haven't looked at Drood / Shaman itemization, so don't look at those numbers too carefully - both classes are in Mage gear)

Scaling wise, it's not quite as pretty. Increasing ALL stats by 50% results in:

4794 13.5% Mage_ArcaneSpam
4499 12.7% Mage_Fire
4448 12.5% Priest_Shadow
4262 12.0% Mage_FrostFire
3893 11.0% Mage_Frost
3790 10.7% Druid_Balance
3785 10.7% Mage_Arcane
3152 8.9% Shaman_Elemental
2899 8.2% Priest_Holy

I'm not going to look too closely at the scaled stats too carefully right at the moment, but in a semi drunken haze, I'd guessimate that the Fire overtaking Shadow is at least partially down to Devouring Plague not scaling as strongly with Spellpower as our other DoTs. Not that I personally think it should do - I'm a wee bit concerned about our position in the first example here - we're probably ~200 DPS (or 9-10%) too high DPS wise.

Off the top of my head, a smallish 'nerf' to DoT scaling would seem to be called for. I'd be VERY wary of touching anything to do with Mind Flay / Mind Blast or SWD for fear of affecting scaling down the road.

Seems we have some pretty high scaling comparatively and start out doing some reasonable damage.

Excellent. Yet again I will be torn between which character to have as my main.
