Hello all, My wife has come back to wow from Lin2 and she is picking up her 59 hunter. She wants me to play with her hunter and my only character choice is a new warlock I made a while ago(lv.61). I want to know what you guys and gals think would be the best spec to go with. We are mainly playing PvE questing and some instances(just the two of us) until 70, then maybe som BG's. Anyways, with PvE in mind, what spec should I go? I am thinking of staying affliction with my imp out. The life boost would help our her cat i think(she is BM specced). But Destro seems so much easier since she will be tanking most things and with her and her cat, most things will die before my Dots work anyways, but I have crap equipment for a destro build. I have pretty good gear for either demo or affliction though(about 300spell damage, 350 with oil/pots).
What do you guys think? What would synergize well with a BM specced hunter?

Having played both classes, I'd say that a Demo and a BM Hunter should be able to rip through the outlands in short order.
Nothing would be more awesome than a Felguard, and a big red beast laying a path of destruction.

Now I want to go play my hunter.

I would still say stay affliction. You can always put up less dots, or take turns pulling trading off with aggro on every other pull. When ever I levled with my BM hunter friend he loved having a couple of my dots up while he blasted, and had his pet chewing and tearing away. If i'm looking at it from a hunters standpoint, i'd still say affliction would keep me having the most fun, gives a chance for your pet to get in there and do its thing and still fire off a few shots other than auto shot, it's no fun if the other player has burst damage and you dont. Now if she was marks then i'd say go destro or like Krile said maybe a little demo. It probaly doesn't really matter that much if you two talk things out and/or get a feel for the other's rotations. A threat meter would be a nifty tool to help trade of aggro, I think I have omen at the moment and it works being a pet class as well. Good luck!

I would advise to go with the one allow best mana efficient. I know BM hunter don't have much down time and you want to make you don't have much down time neither. I would lean to Demo.

It's me again and looking for some help. Well, my wife came back and I tried out my lock with her BM hunter. I first tries Demonology, then respeced to affliction. They were both pretty lackluster. The problem I seem to be having is managing my mana/life. In both specs, the mob was dying too fast which meant no time to drain life to replenish after life tapping, and with a BM hunter doing the damage they do, I was not getting in last damage which meant no mana returned for drain soul. It was a constant hair pulling session for me trying to keep my mana and health at level(especially since her hunter had NO downtime, except the occasional water break). So I am thinking of specing destruction and let her tank and hold aggro while i throw on immolates/SB's and let my imp go nuts on it. What do you guys/gals think?

My g/f and I leveled together with an Aff Lock/BM Hunter combo. What we did was just no focus on the same mob. Like when toddlers first start to have social interaction, parallel play. Playing next to each other, in the same group, doing the same thing, but not necessarily together. Helps being in a group as you get credit for each others kills, and your close together still, so if some opposing faction comes along, you can gang up on them. Worked very well for us.

QFT.

Both the hunter and warlock can tear through normal mobs like wet tissue paper. Try to keep in the same general area, kill whatever's close to your wife's target, and team up for hard pulls and boss-types. A BM hunter alone can solo a lot of group quests; the two of you shouldn't have any issues with anything short of instance quests.

I'll echo what others have said, and suggest going Affliction or Demonology. It's a matter of play-style; both specs have pretty low downtime, just for different reasons. If the two of you plan on doing a lot of instances, I'd push you toward Aff more unless you're really good at pet micro-management (a Demo warlock's group DPS depends on keeping your pet alive and on the right target(s)).
