Best Enhance weapon 65-69?Follow

#1 Sep 18 2008 at 1:02 PM Rating: Default
I'm currently using Hand of Reckoning on both hands with crusdaer 'chant on both. I'm level 67 and I can slice and dice everything in my way just fine.. BUT it feels like there should be an upgrade of weapons at this point. I've scoured thotbot and wowhead looking for one handers speed 2.5-2.9... between levels 65-69 and I can't find anything. Can anyone point me in the direction of more damage? Or am I subjected to a level 61 item until level 70?

Thanks in advance....

I'm running a quick search on Allakhazam's search tool. The criteria are simple: level 65-69, over 2.00 speed, and then I go by weapon. So... I'll break it down for you:

Axes
1. Amani Venom-Axe is from Old Hillsbrad. It's probably the best of the range for axes, level 66 required, 62.8 DPS and a good speed.
2. Stormforged Axe, which you can get two of to dual-wield. Good if you're one of those odd-ball Shaman axesmithies.
3. Resonating Axe is a green quest reward. The stats are equivalent to the FoR, but the DPS is a few higher. And it's free! Quest and item are level 68, but I'm not sure if that's the minimum level to get said quest.

Maces
1. Lavaforged Warhammer is the easiest to get if you're a master hammersmith... which you very well may be if you're aiming for the Dragonstrikes at 70. If not, you're out of luck, and are probably going for the S2 maces instead.
2. While too fast to be optimal, Terrok's Nightmace has good stats and amazing DPS (70.8). Off Talon King Ikiss in Sethekk Halls.

The rest of the maces for this range are crap. Most of them have healing stats; the rest are green world drops that will be sidegrades at best.

Fist weapons/claws
1. Mag'hari Fury Brand. Probably the best weapon out of all the choices so far. The quest is a common one (Ring of Blood; bring some friends), and the stats are great on it. My personal recommendation for an upgrade.
2. Ripfang Paw is easy to get, being a green quest reward from Netherstorm. It's just a slight DPS boost really.

The rest of the first weapons are mostly sidegrades with some DPS increases. Sporeling Claw is an instance quest reward, and the Nexus-Claw is available from a vendor for 34 gold. But you could probably find BoE greens on the AH for less gold.

Daggers

No daggers are slower than 2.00. Worthless for us, thus.

So, there you go. Hope that helps. I'd aim for the Mag'hari Fury Brand first, and back it up with a blacksmithing item OR the Resonating Axe quest reward. While the Ripfang Paw is easy to get as well, it is only Main Hand. Enjoy!

Edit: Mixed up my Masteries for a second. Oops!

Edit 2: Said Circle of Blood (which is the arena) instead of Ring of Blood (which is in Nagrand and what I meant to say)

It's a bit absurd, the lack of enhance choices. Think you need to be Aldor for this: http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=30364 . There's always old reliable http://wow.allakhazam.com/search.html?q=fury+brand but I havent done the math to see if it is truly better. Has a higher top end damage, which I always thought was the first thing to look at as an enhancer.

Though why not just continue slicing and dicing til 70 and then get the PvP axes?

Also...

1. It's FIST of Reckoning, not Hand. Just saying :-P
2. I would get a new enchant... well, after you get new weapons. Crusader gets worse and worse every level you gain. It was part of Blizzard's plan to phase out old items from vanilla WoW when TBC came up. Best would be Potency (+20 STR), but after the next patch, Greater Agility (+20 AGI) will be better.
3. While weapon speed is key, 2.6 being the optimal cutoff, you also need to take other stats into consideration. I'd say anywhere above 2.3 is ok. You won't lose THAT much from the Windfury loss. Someone can come in and blast that statement to hell, but in my mind, 5+ DPS is worth more on a weapon than .1-.3 slower speed.

Thank you for the great info! I didn't know Alla had an advance search like that.

I may just tough it out until 70. The weapons you posted didnt really grab me by the nose hairs. All the improvments would be.. IMO not worth the time of getting the weapon.

Just going to have to wait till the awesome-O gear that 70 brings. (ps. this is my first toon and i CANT WAIT to hit 70)

I just ding-ed 70 yesterday. (for my first time) w00t for me. My friend got a kara raid together when i was 68 and i got some good gear. One thing being the 'Fools Bane' 1h mace.

Now im saving up for the lvl 70 1h axe you can buy with honor points. (gladiators something or other?)

Thank you all for the responses. But now... im no longer limited by my level but rather my comintment.
