So I gave Balance spec a try on the PTR and just fell in love with it. Overall, I enjoy playing any of the Druid talent specs, but I've mostly been a Feral druid. It's been my preferred play style.

Maybe it was the change of game play that got me liking Balance. Or maybe it was the cool, new abilities the talent tree has on the PTR. What do you guys think? Have you tried Balance in Beta or the PTR? Do you like it?

I leveled 1-70 as balance... I loved every minute of it

I'm resto now for raids sadly, but every chance I can spec back to boomkin I do it. I run every 5 man as a boomkin, I rarely heal 5 mans now, and I've built up a pretty badass set of gear for when wotlk goes public so I can immediately power level myself to 80 and never heal a raid again.

I'm gonna be the token boomkin in the new raids.

About two or three years ago on my 60 lock (that I have lazily yet to get to 70 as I've been playing Horde) I was in a 40 man in ZF and we had a balance Druid that was topping the damage meter. I was very impressed by this (especially since he was beating me!) and have always wanted to level a balance Druid, which I currently am doing. She's only at level 22 thus far, but I'm loving it. I just love the DPS casting classes in general, but I can't wait to get to 40 so I can try out Moonkin form.

You mean ZG?

Anyways, I've always been feral most of the time. It's easy to get in groups as a tank and all that. But in WotLK the talent tree is so big you can't have both anymore i think, you have to either pick feral cat or feral bear... and i'm not going bear on my way to 80. So this is when i looked at the boomkin tree (if im going dps spec, might aswell do it casting).

I started looking at the new tree and it looks pretty devastating, much more than the old one. I'm giving it some serious thought now, but I can't seem to come up with a smart build... I always run out of points D:. So I'm going to wait for the brains at this to make a build that I'm happy with, and I dare to say right now that when wotlk comes out I'm going boomkin and /dance my way to 80.

I haven't tried tried balance in the PTR, but I had a play around with the talent calculator:

http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?druid=00000000000000000000000000000205003312000000000000000005032030125031035213305011051

...built for the intention of instances/raids. To me, 'improved insect swarm' seems a waste, as does 'owlkin frenzy' (more of a pvp talent). I can't make my mind up about eclipse, but it seems a bit crappy.

I would very much like to make my druid balance at 80, but with the buffs to other healing classes dps specs (and ofcourse the straight dps classes), I am concerned about whether they will be "wanted" in 5mans.

In arena (2v2 at least), I really think balance druids will struggle. They lack survivability and don't have any real cutting edge agaisnt other classes.

Errr... I could be wrong about whether it was a 40 man or not. It's the instance that's in STV. My memory isn't too good. >.>

Yeah that's ZG, a 20 man. I loved that place.
