First thing is that the gear itself is fine, but you lack enchants and gems. I don't know specifically what type of gems to get. Boot enchants +15 spirit on chest (possibly +15 resi if your going top end arena) Boots get vitality OR minor speed + stamina (not sure about this but on my rogue i don't have any speed increase and i was chasing a priest and he was ever so slightly creeping away from mele range, so has its uses)

Secondly developing strategies for BG'S is very very hard because its so situational. I mean in AB if your defending a base you could in theory have a person from each group with you and that throws any group heals out the window. One thing you can do is if you have enemy name plates toggled so you can see all there HP, target the one with the lowest HP and then target his target and heal that person, that way you help eliminate enemies quicker. But generally if you have CD's up try let the enemy know your there when u draw "aggro" shield / fear / run away pain suppresion the works. All while your allies are killing them. But like i said BG's strats are hard because for all i know you could have a blind person controlling the warrior next to you who just got his epics from key board smashing. (No disrespect to any blind WoW players :D ) There are posts for arenas and how to heal them.

Ok i haven't really answered your question so i will try be more concise. Don't try heal EVERYONE just some people. If your with 2 people 1 is in lvl 60-70 greens and blues and the other is in S4...well keep the S4 person alive. If people around you have *********** buttons maybe heal them slightly later (mages, pallys, and to some respect rogues who aren't bad). Keep alive people who will kill the enemy quicker.

The above poster has some good tips. but you should also know that the disc priest is considered "at the moment" to be one of the most mana inefficient classes/builds out today.

You will defiantly not do much outlasting if you are being focused or are spam healing.

Like the previous poster stated. Find a few healing targets and focus on keeping them alive. If you have a friend that plays go in with them and team up. You have an amazing survivability as a disc/holy priest but you are not a spam healer. you can keep a few folks alive for a short period of time. or yourself and another person alive for a very long time.

Use your bubble preemptively and avoid spamming flash heals. mostly prayer of mending, renew, bubble, and greater heal. couple that with power infusion and pain suppression and you have a serious recipe for a great duo team.

If you find yourself in a group environment. for example fighting over a flag and many of your teammates are in close proximity then feel free to spam pom very liberally because its your most mana efficient heal in that type of setting.

also keep yourself bubbled at pretty much all times because any "first strike" will mostly be in your direction. having a bubble up ahead of time actually saves mana.

You should also play to your strengths as a discipline priest. Say that you're the only healer at the LM, while the opposite side has a druid or pally. If you try to match them heal for heal, you will lose the mana battle.

So play your game. Limit your healing to Prayer of Mending when its cooldown is up and Binding Heal when you and another character are both injured. Use your remaining cooldowns to dispel both sides, to fear enemy clusters, and to manaburn the opposing healer. That more aggressive playstyle works well for us.

Along with picking one or two healing targets, you should slowly learn to recognize who should be healed. For example, a ret pally makes an excellent "partner," but once they're out of mana their damage drops to horrendously low levels, and you might be better off picking a new target. Casters or hunters with lots of melee on them are often poor choices too.

Melee classes tend to be the best to stick with; they can both takes hits and deal incredible damage. Classes that are mana-dependent and are almost oom, or those that are stuck in a situation where their damage is severely compromised (mage with 3-4 melee on them, hunter trapped in melee), can often be sacrificed in order to keep someone more useful alive.

Takes a while to get to know when you should stay on your current target or switch over to another one.
