pVp specFollow

Which would be a more viable offspec for pVp (in either arenas of BGs), Shockadin or Ret?

I'm currently a prot pally, so I would assume that respeccing Shockadin would be easier to gear since I have +spell dmg. I'm not going to respec and do this anytime soon, but I thought I'd put this out there for a second opinion for future reference.

I would say ret, purley cause I have tried both, holy just can`t sustain good burst like ret can. but thats soly my opinion.

If you're not going to do this any time soon then just wait for the expansion and see. It's only 2 months away.

Having said that, as it stands (and as it will be) Ret is and will be much more viable for good PvP than Shockadin. If you are going to spec holy, just get holy gear, and heal. The tree is much more suited for healing, and Shockadin Damage is not that great and you go OOM way too fast.

Some build ideas for you:

Ret option 1 (more survivability)

Or

Ret Option 2 (less survivability but more damage)
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sxZVhZxfMthcuiIot

Holy option 1 (Good surviveabillity healer)
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sVxhMgzheotV0xG0f

Holy option 2 (Shokadin (ish))
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sVxhMgzheoxZVf0xbcz

With the Shock build (as others have said) you will go oom quickly and will do plink damage at best, also you will have to do a balancing act with your mana for healing.

Holy option 1 is good as you can take a pounding and keep team mates alive and heal yourself as well, you can also push out some damage when required but it won't scare anyone.

Ret build 1 (and its friend) has good survivability and you can stun and repentance enemies frequently, damage is good but mana can be a bigger issue than normal (if you go for ImpBoM).

Ret build 2 - less survivability but you push out more damage and have an easier time with mana.

If you want to heal go holy (watch for interupts & lockdowns), if you want to deal damage.

Go Ret.

I hope you find the build ideas useful.

Cheers

I have a different opinion in terms of talent and I think it has[ helped me a lot in PvP.

Ret build

For this I go deeper into the Protection tree.

Improved Hammer of Justice is a great thing to have. With Gladiator gear, you can have a really good stun ability every 35 seconds.

Stoicism helps in dealing with Rogues.

6% less damage from righteous fury is exactly that....6% less damage.

Blessing of Kings goes without saying....10% more health, more mana, more agility and strength.

On the ret side:
Benediction for additional mana. If you use blessing of kings then Improved blessing of might most likely won't help.

Eye for an Eye is useful against some of the nasty Locks and Mages at least until you can get your Resiliance up where you aren't taking as many criticals.

This build does give up damage in some areas though to accomplish some survivability.

For ret PvP, I would say taking the imp righteous fury is pointless, unless you take stoicism for the dispell resistance, otherwise its easily removed by half of everyone you face. Lock pet, priest, shaman, prot wars, and mages. If you want to pvp in ret the usual build is this....

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/paladin/talents.html?tal=0000000000000000000005024130020000000000000523005132033125331101

however, thats a pure pvp build, in the end its always up to you where you put your points.

oh for pvp don`t bother taking precision either, there is no point, it helps a tad, but the points could be spent else where, like the improved freedom. Thats a must.
