I got a beta invitation last week and finally noticed it in my email inbox yesterday.

I quickly setup my beta account and downloaded the client and all the patches and jumped right in with a new DK while waiting for my rogue and shaman to transfer over from the live servers.

I must say I was thoroughly impressed with everything having to do with death knights and their starting zone.

The class, to me, plays somewhere between a fury warrior and a rogue. There are a lot of abilities to use but a lot of it is watching for rune cooldowns and how much runic power you have.

I was a little concerned when I heard about the new system that the class might be difficult to pick up and learn, but I found myself settling into a combat rotation within just a few fights.

The DK starting zone is also amazing. A lot of recognizable names can be found in Acherus and the phasing element of the entire zone is really cool and entirely seemless.

Overall I was completely blown away by how good the DK starting zone is and I can't wait to see what Blizz did with Northrend, especially because I've heard that there is a lot areas that take advantage of phasing.

The only thing that concerned me at all in the 3 or 4 hours I played was that it seemed like the DK talent trees, especially blood and unholy, were bloated with good talents and I was finding it difficult to decide on a talent spec.

Any of you other DK/beta enthusiasts got a reccomendation for a good blood spec and a good unholy spec?

Once you get Death Runes you can stack diseases and start spamming abilities that do 60% wep damage plus damage for each disease stacked.

There's so much win with the abilities that I can't explain. One of my favorite things is critting for 15k and getting healed for 4% of the damage I do, plus talents that heal after you kill mobs.

Yeah so far I am enjoying Blood spec much more than Unholy. I guess it's the downtime from unholy since I went Blood first and was so used to being healed for so much from strikes and Bloodworms.

I guess I just need to level some more and get into a groove.

Lately I've been playing my rogue through Northrend more though, because I want to get a feel for the new content rather than level my DK through Outland.

I figure 12 levels through Outland on a PVE server in live will be more than enough time to get a feel for how the class is played.

I already levelt up to 70

Unholy more or less all the time.

Hardly ever faced downtimes...Death Strike heals for up to 3K at 65/66 ;p

Don´t level any further than 68 in Outlands and go straight to Nordrend as soon as you hit 68

The quest reawrds there are absolutely amazing, and I recommend start in Borean Tundra,
one of the first quest rewards is a 2handed sword with 110 dps ! Also I found the plate stuff
through quests much better there than in the Howling Fjord area.

Quests are very easy as 68 in greens, and after 8-9 quests I changed 6-7 items and stats received
an incredible boost.

Have fun !
