Hey folks,

Before I begin, here is a link to my armory. http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Turalyon&n=Seeahfoo

Ok, I'm an SL/SL lock with a general focus on PvP. That being said, I do run my fair share of instances for badges and what not. I usually average between 660-700 dps during instances, and I'm usually at top of overall damage done (I pay good attention, and never go afk). I happen to be running an H-Mech the other day, and our group had another lock. He looked at my gear, and asked what my +hit rating was. When I informed him it was 29...he was very disappointed. I told him that my +dmg was high, and he said it really didn't matter. Well, he went on to out-dps me that instance, and also did more overall damage than I did.

Here's what I'm wondering. Should I start throwing together a PvE set? I'm hesitant with WotLK on the horizon, as I don't want to waste time/money now, for stuff that may be upgraded rather soon. All this being said, I have maxed honor (75k), and I also have 100 of each token from the 4 BG's. I purchased everything I wanted, and figured I'd max it out for the expansion. I could spend and replace, as I'm a very good grinder.

Couple questions. Can I even have two of the same piece? Could I potentially have the S2 chest socketed and enchanted for PvP, and a second S2 chest socketed and enchanted for PvE?
Seeing that money is also not that much of a concern of mine, what do you suggest I gem and enchant my PvE gear with? I'm assuming +spell crit, and +spell hit? Also, I've heard mention that 202 is the cap on spell hit. I'm only at 29...almost seems impossible that I can achieve that number...but maybe I can? I also know that one of the talents reduces the spell hit gap or something. Not quite sure how that works either.

Any help would be great. I don't think I left anything out. Thanks!!

Switch out a PvE set of gear if you're not respecing out of Sl/Sl for instance runs or raiding, which is the best thing you can do. But... At the bare minimum you should have Frozen Shadoweave with all Hit gems (that's 6 x 8-Hit gems, 48 hit right there!). Ignore crit completely, as Sl/Sl it's of no practical use. The Scryer trinket is great for +hit, also the Terrekor Tablet trinket is just an easy quest away. PvP gear is inherently not optimal for PvE but you can use it and gemming an alt set with hit can be an option. But PvE gear is stupid-easy to get together for regular instances. Take a look at Warlock's Den for more info.

Shoot for a hit rating of over 100 for regular, easy instances, 180-202 for heroics. Cruising close to the spell hit cap is really pretty easy with quest and craft-able gear.

If your threat is low during the run, sacrifice a Succy for the damage boost but DO NOT pull aggro. If your threat is high, sac the imp instead.

Good luck!
