I am a fairly new hunter, and haven't been killed yet. newbie question, if i die, will I need to get a new pet?

No, your pet just 'desummons' or is dismissed.

Just use the 'call pet' skill after you resurrect.

As i said in your other post read up the Sticky , it is worth all hunters reading it , and looking at Petopia will also answer all pet questions.

A half hour reading the sticky at the top and looking up and bookmarking Petopia is well worth the time spent doing it.

We can all tell tales of the mistakes we made when we first started , for me one was using the pet spell cower and wondering why i had to keep fighting off mobs , but a short time reading up on Hunters made me understand that simple mistake , and that was after a good Hunter watching me and suggesting i look up here and on Petopia , he was and still is a Hunter i look up to as he always has good advice.

I was in my 30s before I found out that if I send my pet to attack, then shoot, that I wouldn't have to melee every mob that I came accross.

Typical battle: auto shoot, arcane shot, conc shot, get hit by mob and pet attack, melee.

Ah, the good ol' days.

OP, I am really curious how got to a level where you have a pet and have never died.

I don't think I've ever died on a hunter when I didn't have a pet.

I tend to get way overconfident with a pet, thinking I can take like 8 mobs at once.

2-3 is totally doable, but when I get in my "let's try to kite 8 mobs" mood, I'm usually in trouble. Smiley: tongue

Usually though I just FD and let my pet eat a death then pop back up.

I know that!

Although for me it's something like.. Hey, Let's kite that Dragon/Giant/other random skull lvl thing.

Sadly those often run/fly/crawl faster than I can run... and they tend to resist FD's.

I tried to kite Doomwalker once.

True story.

Safe to say, I died before I could kite him to my raid that was standing outside of BT.
