Damn, you're old school.

That's what, 5-6 years ago now?

I have an old video of me doing the ENM60 toward the end of my FFXI 'career' that was dated 2005. So maybe a little more recent than that, but yeah, pretty damn old :D

Yeah. I just remember I didn't post here much in the last year or so of my FFXI career (I was posting mostly on KillingIfrit), and I pretty much quit in 2005, after a year of playing both WoW and FFXI.

One had to go, and since I was just getting into raiding in WoW and had done everything in FFXI...

Strange that you went to play hunter because rogue changes are so dissapointing... I was thinking of doing the reverse for the exact same reason.

Pets and stuff are pretty cool, but raidwise the problems with the hunter class are far from fixed.
And we really get the shaft on glyphs... they all suck.. badly.
(+50% petdamage when you're using eyes of the beast whooo! Smiley: mad )

Mana problems are still very much here, and it will now take roughly a half minute in Viper to fill your mana bar from 0 to full.

HALF A MINUTE.
And that's including consumables and buffs.

And Lock n load is nerfed down to 1 free shot.

Oh yes, and with what our raidgear looks like for WotLK, we'll be having scaling issues too with all that haste.
If they keep pumping that up we just wont be able to keep up damage wise.
And what else do we bring except for damage?

I'm still warring with myself. I have so much invested into Korz and I have arena teams planned (actually, too many arena teams) for WotLK, and I'm already an expert at the class, while I'm just above average at hunter (not that shot rotations are that hard).

I mean, it takes a while to learn how to 5-8 kite, how to ShS intercepts, Vanish Death Coils and all that, but I guess what it'll come down to is which class I'll have more fun playing and odds are sadly it'll be my rogue in PvP and my hunter in PvE.

Still, I like paying attention to the class. As far as I'm concerned, Blizzard has done a much better job with the hunter talents than they've done with the rogue ones.

Are the rogue changes really that bad?

I havent paid much attention to them tbh and all I've heard so far is that they've become stronger than before...

Haven't followed them much myself, but a guildie of mine followed them religiously. Whenever asked about them he just regurgitates a long line of expletitives followed by random outbursts of "slapdash", "random", "pointless" and (my personal favourite) "fucking short-bus retarded" when describing the changes. So I guess there's... issues with the Rogue changes.

I am personally considering leveling my Shadow Priest to 80 first. This time we might actually scale with End-Game since our Mana Battery function won't scale with Shadow Damage anymore. No excuses left to keep our spelldamage below par. My Hunter might just become my secondary choice for raids, with the main weight on farming.

This is just my personal experience using Viper in the current beta build, but it's not "awful".

Yeah, it's not as good as it was (which it was incredibly OP, I could fire one explosive shot and be full mana again), but it's good enough that if you get low on mana on trash, you can switch to Viper for that pull and you're back to full mana.

As both SV and BM, I've had no mana issues whatsoever. This includes going into a boss with 60% (maybe less) mana.

From what I've seen on the PTR (haven't been on Beta) the live version of Viper is much better. Granted, I haven't really had a chance to play with it in an instance setting as the PTR is too unstable for me to have the gumption to try it, but from a playing around with new abilities and testing stuff out it is noticeably worse.

While running around farming/doing dailies on live my mana constantly full and I'm at almost max damage. Hell even in a boss fight I can ride viper the whole time (usually do since the group I run with doesn't have a ret pally and we pretty much just farm Kara for badges) and still go over 1400 DPS pretty easily (I'm still in kara gear and the badge bow so don't judge too harshly :p). With the massive cut in damage for the time it takes for me to get my mana back up in viper I can't see the trade off being worthwhile. Haven't really played with survival enough to make a good judgment, but I'm still unconvinced.

The last version on Beta was pretty OP, but for a 50% damage cut the version on the PTR just doesn't seem worthwhile.

Like you said though, just my personal experience.

Wingclip: No longer does damage.

wth?

I'm 90% sure this is actually a buff, because it (I think) makes it so wing clip can't be dodged/parried/etc.

Edit: Not sure if this was mentioned here or not, but I saw a blue post saying misdirect is being put to a 30 sec cd, if I have time I'll try to find the source.

Well, I'll put it this way: the number one most required rogue talent got moved from Assassination to Sub, and went from ONE talent point to FIVE.

They were trying to make the talent "more accessible" (direct Blizzard quote). Yeah.

I'm not pissed at all, can you tell? Smiley: dubious

Yep exotics work. I tamed Uvuros O_O and only because he was lagged so badly that the channeling completed while he sat there frozen.

Hot. This makes up for typically crappy non-SV hunter CC.

I went ahead and downloaded the PTR last night out of boredom and copied my level 70 hunter and paladin over to mess with. (only to find that the server was down until midnight for maintenance. So I decided to stay up, and it was still down. It was down for a good two more hours, so I sit here at work, slightly dazed looking, and very sleep deprived)

A couple things right off. I tried disengage a few times because it looked fun. The first time, I stepped back *maybe* a foot. I was like oh, this isn't quite like I was expecting, that's too bad. But the second time, woah! Flying backwards through the air! :P Kinda fun.

I talented up my pet, and tried it out. Even though I went beastmaster, i went ahead and used my normal pet because I didn't want to be up all night exploring for new exotic pets (that comes this evening!)

I think my pet was nearly invincible. Not to mention all sorts of weird abilities firing right and left off it (zip! pow! flash! sparkle!), my pet just didn't seem to be taking much damage. I figured it was since I was in Nagrand and the mobs were pretty low, so I kited my pet about and got 4 mobs on it and waited. Its life *slowly* went down, but woah, suddenly it started moving back up! I looked at my combat log, and it was channeling 'lick wounds' for around 1,200 health a tick! Definitely not expecting that one to make it out of PTR.

Also another thing I noticed... it seemed my auto shot was going off while I was casting steady shot? o.O Is this the end of worrying about weapon speed so much? Spam steady and arcane with stings refreshed when needed?

EDIT: Oh yeah, one more thing I tested out was how much damage a frozen target could take before it broke. If you go attack it, it could take a hit or two before breaking. If you serpent sting the mob first, the trap duration actually runs down all the way before the poison damage breaks it. Talk about a huge buff! HUGE BUFF to hunter CC.

I want to be able to misdirect onto any target... call it mind control for hunters. ^_^

Where do I put that into the suggestion box...!

Wingclip: No longer does damage.

Hmmm so maybe in pvp before the <insert form of crowd control here> you do a drive by wing clip not removing the cc but when it does wake up he is already moving slowly. And if your lucky the imp. wing clip procs and he doesn't move even after the cc. Will this produce diminishing returns though? i don't fully get how this works but say you blind him (rogue ofc) and then with .5s left on the blind you do the wing clip and the imp. wing clip proc, would the fact that your now frozen in place get dimminishing returns or no? (quite scary really, the thought of possible getting flamed by theo and i'm not even on the rogue forums!!)
