Thinking of tanking againFollow

OK, first things first, here is my armory link.
I've logged out (at the time of posting) with what passes for my tanking gear equipped. When I say this, I mean these are the few quest rewards related to tanking that I've kept, and a bunch of stuff I just bought at the AH.

As you can see, I'm not specced for tanking at all. In fact, I kinda ambled from 60 to 70 solo, and have never stepped inside a dungeon since BC was released.

Before I do respec, I wanted to get your opinions and guidance.

Where do you think I should go from here?

I'd like to experience all/most of the dungeon content I missed in BC. Which instances should I look to start in, given the gear/no tanking experience that I have. (well, I was OT in my old guild, but that was vanilla wow, 2 years ago, so lets say no experience)

Would I need to respec straight away, or can I manage without doing so for a while? (I'd like to wait before respeccing, so I can grind out 15k honor and get the S2 shield)

Oh, if anybody's still reading this, and happens to be on a decent pop EU realm, LMK, ok? Everybody I know has gone and transferred off Doomhammer.

Thanks in advance.

If u want to tank why so hesitant to respec? Basically yes you will have to if you would like to be serious about tanking at all. You should try to push for the defence cap (490 soft) and you can do so by either having gear crafted, questing for it, AH (of the champion) or instancing. As to where to instance try the level 68+ instances as they possess the dungeon set and its a good place to start upgrading. When it comes to that shield you could just get exalted with the isle and buy the epic shield and nice tanking neck. Read the stickies, learn your rotations and jump right in =)

Well, I have respecced. Also bought a few more items, just to hit the 490 Defense mark.

Haven't tried tanking itself yet, did a couple of dailies, just to get used to the build. Died a couple of times because I'm not used to having to remember defensive abilities like spell reflect or shield bash.

Have some moving of buttons to do, so I can get the proper rotation. I use an N52, and have my bars in a couple of 5-5-4 formations, with the second being bound to the same keys+ctrl.

Will have a look for some groups tomorrow.

I will do some of my own research, too, but both of these posts have been very early in the morning. I have a quest for the Arcatraz key, which gives a belt upgrade. For it I need to go to Botanica and Mechanar I believe? Should I try these or avoid them for now?

If you're a warrior tanking for the first time you probably need to learn to tank. More important than the spec or the gear.

You could start with the ridiculously easy stuff like Ramparts and Blood Furnace then up from there do UB and the other stuff in order, once each. If you keep having wipes then you need to L2TANK some more before going to Arc/Mec/Bot.

On the plus side you don't need to care about the gear while you're a 70 doing pre-70 instances.

Then you do the 70, then you do heroics and Kara and so on.

Tanking low level instances isn't going to teach anything, because the mobs are a joke. They won't hit as hard, parry/dodge mechanics will be skewed, threat will be higher than what it normally is.

Just hop into 70 instances and start learning. You'll wipe, but just take it in stride as a learning experience.
I fondly remember the countless UBRS runs I wiped learning how to tank 3 years ago. Every good tank can probably recall a period of time when they sucked, and had a lot of learning to do. Welcome to the fold.
