Please read the whole thread before posting thoughts. Jenova, I wonder if you can provide some maths on this, as well. I'm hesitant in most cases to do anything but take Vux's posts with less than a grain of salt.

nice, interesting indeed. though the guy screwed up his maths a bit (and it's on the american forums so my damn account details don't work there ....argh lol)... the multipliers don't add together, they multiply together, it's not a 24% from soul-siphon+20% SE, 20% haunt, 10% SM. it's 1.24*1.2*1.2*1.1 = 1.94 = 94% multiplier so the damage will actually be higher than he predicted.

the whole idea though is amazing. it gives us a larger incentive to drain soul the end of a mob, so decreasing the chance we'll run out of shards while also being very mana effecient and supposedly, really good damage :)

Hm, interesting. Any chance you can elaborate with optimal raid buffs/debuffs?

As far as I can tell, though, you would need to get down to an 8-8.5s Drain Soul in order for it to be optimally effective, but depending on how much each tick of Drain Soul does, that may not be necessary.

if you read what the guy posted... basically he's saying that if a mob is below 20% health, due to the possible introduction of the 400% damage multiplier at that point, drain soul will do more dps/dptick than a SB, so making it the better choice. the 'optimal raid buffs etc..' won't affect it as they're just flat % increases to damage or haste, which just causes a flat % increase in damage delt. the raid buffs which increase our +dmg though would benefit drain soul more than SB due to the coefficient and then the raid bonuses to crit would benefit SB more... but imo the end result would be that drain soul would probably scale better due to how large the multipler is compared to how small an effect crit has to a warlocks damage, especially an afliction lock like in his example. decreasing the duration of drain soul isn't needed to make this beneficial as the damage per tick will be highier than the damage per shadowbolt, so it doesn't matter if you get all 15 seconds of drain soul on the target or not.
