Got into the BetaFollow

I got my Beta Key this week. Last night I was downloading the client, and started it installing before I went to work. Apparently there is an option now to copy pre-made level 80's already decently geared out. I assume because they want people to get into Naxx. The queue was full when I went to copy either a premade, or a live toon over, and even if the queue wasn't full the wait time was 2 days on premades and 4 days for live toons. So it will be a while before I am in.

Once I am in I will start trying to get into Naxx groups, and will post screenies and things up here. If I can find a Damage Meter that works with the Beta I will try to get screenies of that posted after boss battles.

Can someone with premium post up a poll for me on what build to try? I am thinking either Haunt/Ruin(with the new change making Ruin 15 points), Deep Demo/Ruin and Devastation, or Deep Destro.

That's great and all, and if I had the time I would. However, with my g/f's comp broken, and her using mine for her raiding with our current guild, and the fact that I am getting a second job and working 13 hour days M-F, Sunday is really the only day I can actually play. How the heck am I going to test Multiple Specs, in a true raid environment, with one day a week?

Well, where to start.....

First thing I noticed is that while things like looting were a bit laggy, the game seemed to run smoother than Live. Even on my crappy old computer. The graphics also just seems to look smoother and better.

I spent most of my time in the beta so far checking out the Death Knight starting area. I really have no interest in leveling him up through Outland, but wanted to check it out. I have to say, the starting area is brilliant. Basically it's a whole area that you have to take over from a group that calls themselves the Crimson Dawn. the interesting part is that the NPC's, and the look of the buildings and the ground actually changes as you take it over. You start off with no talents and must do the quest chains to get your talents, and as you do the chains the land changes. You still see all the other PC's, but what you each see is different, depending on what point in the chains you are. It is really awesome.

******************************************************************* SPOILER ALERT ***************************************

When you first get there, all Death Knight, Alliance and Horde are the same, and you are working directly for Arthas, as you get to the end of the chain, he sends you to attack Light's Hope Chapel, and an event takes place where you lose. He then confronts the guy from there, and admits that he used you and all the other Death Knights. After he is wounded and leaves, an Alliance is formed between High Warlord Mograine and the guy at Light's Hope Chapel that "defeated" Arthas. Then the "Knights of the Ebon Blade" are formed and you are instructed to return to your homeland and help them to destroy Arthas.

*************************************** SPOILER OVER ********************************************************************

Really it's a fun experience, and because of the way the NPC's you see change as you level, even though the area seemed very over-crowded, getting quests done was not an issue. It actually made it feel more real, more like war, and more evil with all the other PC Death Knights running around. One of the quests is even to win 5 Duels against other Death Knights. There are NPC Death Knight Initiates available to do this with, or it can be done with other PCs. Very enjoyable experience and I recommend anyone to try it, even if you just do the starting area and quit playing your DK.

The next thing I wanted to do was start copy a 80 Lock Template and check that out, but the server for that was down, so I copied my 70 over to the other server and went to check out Northrend. One thing I noticed when I got there was the tailoring trainer, and the Frostweave set that you can make at 375 Tailoring, basically as soon as you get there. Comparing it to my mix of T4/5 gear, I'd probably take it. It is missing stats like +Hit and +Crit, but has a lot of Spell Damage and good amounts of Sta and Spirit. Seeing as I won't be raiding right away anyway, the +Hit doesn't seem that important to me right off the bat, so it seems like that will be a good investment, and help with the levelling right off the bat. I took screen shots of all the patterns with the stats and I will post them up tonight when I get home.

I also checked out Metamorphosis, even though they are about to change the mechanics of it. It seemed pretty cool. Didn't really have time to do any quests yet, and am hesitant to spend time leveling, so I kinda stopped there with my 70.

The 80 server was back up, and I got on for a little while to discover that the "starting" gear they give you is level 80 PvP Blue Set, looks like it may be the S6 or maybe BG set. Then PvP Epics in the belt, rings and other spots not covered in the set. No Hit rating, so no raiding for me yet. Will need to hit some 80 Instances and Heroics first. I tried to get into a couple runs, but the server crashed, and was hard to find people. So my experience in the beta kinda ended there.

I'm open to answer any questions anyone may have, and go try to look at things anyone on here may be interested in, just let me know.
