For PvE gears, Defense Rating > Armor Value?Follow

I compared with another lv70 PvE based warrior. I had more armor value than he does; he concentrated on +Defense Value than +Armor Value. Isn't armor value more important than defense rating since you take less damage? Crit is only comes in chances.
Many good PvE defense rating gears seem to have less Armor Value than other epic gears.

Maybe because it's 8:45 in the a.m. that I don't fully understand this question, or it's that there's information left out....

When you say he concentrates on more +Defense stuff Is he capped for uncritable yet? If not, to be honest I'd focus on +defense stuff also. Bosses critting can wipe parties lol.

Armory links, Names/server, etc would help us figure out what you're getting at. What's the +def cap again... 490? Somewhere around there (been a while since I focused on tanking gear, changed to 2H MS).

On that note, what's your Def rating at? Maybe you should focus on getting some too lol.

Excess +defense is not horrible, it does help parry/dodge rating by like .02 each, but after uncrittable, gemming and enchants would be better used on stam/dodge/parry.

Gemming is always better focused on Stamina unless you are focusing on content where you know you need or can live with trading effective health for stamina.

Once defense is capped, Dodge is slightly better than defense.
Defense is always, point for point, better than parry.
