Any quest spells I should know about?Follow

#1 Sep 11 2008 at 6:05 PM Rating: Decent
I'm at 69 and I wanted to make sure that there aren't any quested spells that I missed or need to worry about.

I got the poly-pig spell quest done and I know about the poly-turtle - are there any others I need to know about and get/do?

Thats the list from here so it looks like you have them all.

Not a "Quested" spell (although, if you consider scouring the AH a quest, then it is Quested)... but, in the same vein as Poly-Turtle, your final ranks of Conjure food an water are books that you must buy off the AH (or be lucky enough to get them to drop - but that's a real outside chance, as they're world drops)

You need these 2 final ranks in order to perform the ritual of refreshment, which makes the every-popular "mage table"

Yah, that sucks. I got the tome of water somewhere, dunt remember, and just bid on the tome of conjure food. 131g. ayup. I'ma pay 131g in order to be able to give other people food/water.

I wish there was a certain place to go get either of them, but if you take a look, you have a list, and I don't have time for hunting like that. :)

This thread reminded me I've been meaning to get polymorph: pig, so I did it earlier today. Takes about 30 minutes, including travel time, for a 70. I particularly enjoyed one shotting Warlord Whathisname. Left the valley littered with sheep corpses, too. :)

And you're *expected* to. If you don't, you'll be constantly yelled at by every single person in every BG you ever run.

2 days after I hit 70, the Food book still hadn't been posted on the AH for a reasonable price (the one that was there was 1500g - no way in hell was I paying that).

So I'm running AV for some honor/marks, only mage in the BG (now I know why), and 5-6 people flood me with:

"WTF!!!! TABLE NOOB!!!!"
"TABLE NOW!!!"
"GET A (@#*%@#% TABLE OUT OR NO HEALS!"
...and similar.

Upon politely informing the BG group that I didn't quite have the Food book yet, but would be willing to make stacks of food/water for those who needed it (although it would take a while due to needing to drink in between), the insults got worse and continued through the entire BG. =(

That's crazy. Since I got my water tome right away, I've never had to worry about being berated like that, but I always pop a table in AV, or, well, I even do it in WSG, hell, it doesn't cost me much NOW. But, really, I have to remind PUGs, hey, guys, table! And even have to remind them at the end of the run that I'm a mage, and can port. Most times they'll start hearthing and I'm like wait wait, where do you wanna go? lol. I guess most em em have hearths in Shatt nowdays, but most of the time, as soon as I do that, at least 2 folks are like ohhh right, yay mage, port me to <whatever>, plz.

But if I'd gotten responses like that, and not been able to get the tome? Hah. Dancing naked in the middle of THAT battlefield, oh yeah.

I can top that ... I once teleported myself out, leaving the whole group behind at the end of the instance (totally forgot that I could actually create portals). Firstly, in my defense, I hadn't grouped a lot at that stage, so the concept (portals) was new to me, and secondly, I was fortunate that it was a Guild group ... was the laughing stock of my guildies for about 2 days afterwards :-). Also forgot to create a table (got both tomes from the guild bank ... lucky me ;->) and buff everyone with Int at the start. (I'm better now though, that's what counts ;->)

People who demand tables or ports should be shot.

Yes, I offer them. Yes, if they ask nicely, I will do it. However, if they demand it - ***** them! I have no obligation to give them any of that.

It's not like it's a buff that they don't normally have and benefits the BG. The only benefit of a table is that they are too cheap to buy their own food. On my other toons, I never ask the mage for a table in a BG. If they drop one - cool. If not - I have my own food and water.

Definitely. People are just lazy. As for the tomes, I was lucky enough to be able to get a Food one out of our guild bank (there was two). Now I just have to get the water one and I'm set.
